Mary E. welcomes Todd Kessler and Peter Nye. Both are world-class musicians taking the Chicagoland area by storm! Todd Kessler will be sharing "Halleluja" and talking about his performance with The New Folk at the "Taste of Chicago" july 12th. Nye will be performing at Water's Edge overlooking beautiful Lake Michigan tonight, July 11th.
Todd Kessler of The New Folk celebrated the release of their debut album, Sea Fever, with an August 2012 “Practice Space Presents” residency at Schuba's Tavern, but the story behind The New Folk began in 2005 as singer/songwriter Todd Kessler went in to the studio to record his debut album. That album, entitled We Are The MusicMakers, was released in 2006 and with the backing of his original band helped Kessler to make his name in the local Chicago music scene.
Peter Nye is a singer song writer and founder of The Chicago Bluegrass Band. A multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, banjo and bass, Pete has toured Scandinavia, the EU and the US. His musical style is varied and includes: Celtic, C&W, Jazz, Blues and Rock.He is described as simply a bold man on stage, a fantabulous flat picker and lead singer with a gritty music sensibility honed by years of playing country music roadhouses. As a veteran performer with over thirty years on the Midwest music scene, Pete delivers a powerful vocal performance complimented by sizzling flat-picked leads and rock-solid rhythm work. Peter began cultivating his musical skills at the age of 13 playing the local Honky-tonks around Chicago.

For almost 5000 years, the pyramids have asked more questions than they have answered. Many books have been written which have uncovered incredible facts concerning their construction and their astronomical qualities. We have learned that the Pyramids of Giza are aligned with certain star constellations. It has also been discovered that other similar structures in Mexico and Cambodia also have astronomical significance.
The Great Pyramid of Giza consists of circa 2.3 million stone blocks weighing around 2.5 tons each. Some of the blocks weigh up to 50 tons. Yet despite the vast amount of blocks used, and the incredible weights involved, the mathematical accuracy of the layout of the building is breathtaking. Other such puzzling buildings scattered around the world pose the same questions.
Who built them? How did they acquire such mathematical and astronomical knowledge? And what advanced technology did they use in the construction?
To simply say "The Egyptians built them," is not a satisfactory answer.

Adam spent much of his childhood on a bicycle exploring Harvard Square, absorbing the rich cultural ferment of the 1970s. Unsatisfied with the socio-economic offerings of the early 1980s, at 18 he took his vows of renunciation, poverty and celibacy and lived as a monk for several years, studying massage and healing work while living in a small but vibrant community above a funky jazz and reggae club.
The later 1980s found him studying Hatha Yoga with Eddie Modestini–a practice of solo-healing he experienced as a complement to the work of giving and receiving healing touch with others–and discovering music, spending 15 years playing bass in The Equalites, a reggae-rock band he co-founded.
Adam was blessed to spend many years playing bass in support of sacred chant pioneer Krishna Das, and later with Bhakti Yoga legend Shyamdas, both of whom nourished his love of sacred sound and the yoga of devotion.
