Weekend Thoughts on Cantor, Tea Party, VAT and Flat Tax

    in News

There are a lot of things happening on the domestic political and economic scene.  Eric Cantor loses.  A report shows that most companies are fudging on their books.  The Tea Party didn't use any corporate money.  Maybe we need a VAT or a flat tax or both.Granted there are other factors involved: one would be a smaller turn out; two would be canters bad campaign; and three would be Democrats and independents voting for drab. We don't know the full answer yet. But one thing is clear is that a group of people, voters, took things into their own hands. They are upset with establishment people controlling our country. This is a good sign. However it also shows how difficult it is to govern in the 21st-century. Moises Naim's book the end of power shows this beautifully. There are so many factions that are out there that have the ability to communicate through the Internet and other new media that there are a cacophony of ideas and bad ideas that are floating around out there. So finding a majority will be very difficult. However I think those tea party voters in Virginia got it right. Look at the most recent study that just came out today. It shows how so many corporations are avoiding taxes. A survey of most corporations not only here in United States but also internationally show that they all have losses on their accounting sheets. Why? they're hiding money and they're hiding profits. Why? They don't want to pay taxes. I have been advocating a value added tax and or a flat tax. Let's start paying into the government services that we need right away

Kathy Pickering of H&R Block gives last minute tax tips

    in Lifestyle

    Did you know?

    - The IRS claims $1 billion have been left unclaimed by taxpayers who didn’t file a 2011 tax return?

    - If you don’t have health insurance you could owe a tax penalty up to 1 percent of household income?

    - The IRS recently sent out corrected Form 1095-A’s. Does this affect you?

This tax season may be a challenging time for many families. The single largest change in the tax code in decades, threats of fraud and a fast-approaching April 15 deadline. And uninsured folks filing their taxes this year could experience the biggest wakeup call as the Affordable Care Act starts to affect their returns.

Help is on the way. H&R Block tax expert Kathy Pickering has advice for last-minute filers.

    ·         The penalty for not having health care insurance and how to qualify for an exemption

    ·         Tax mistakes that can cost you big money

    ·         What to do if you can’t meet the April 15 deadline

Kathy Pickering is the executive director of The Tax Institute at H&R Block, the go-to source for objective insights on federal and state tax laws affecting the individual. Ted Cruz Confirms 2016 Presidential Campaign at #LibertyU: DEMS & GOP Reaction

    in Politics Conservative

Join Conservative Report Founder, Patrick Read! Today, Ted Cruz announced he's running for President in 2016. Cruz drew sharp contrast between the govt of dependency by Obama & Democrats, and the independence promised to every American by the Constitution.

Imagine a country determined to produce its own wealth of energy instead of depending on importing from countries that detest America. Imagine a country offering college grads 4, 5 or 6 jobs; instead of part time brought on by soaring cost of Obamacare. Imagine a President who'd sign the repeal of Obamacare, saving jobs & quality care while lowering cost & providing portability. He reminded the crowd that under ACA religious organizations were forced into court for their faith & that Liberty University was the 1st to file a lawsuit. Imagine a President who'd stand by Israel instead of aligning w/ Iran. Imagine a POTUS who'd defeat Radical Islam instead of trying to make deals with ISIS. Finally, he stirred the crowd by advancing the idea of a simple flat tax, indeed leaving the IRS alot less essential.

    Obama Revels DEMS Anti-Semitism

    Cruz Always on Offense

    Hillary: Unbeatable or Unelectable

Benghazi: Rice, Clinton & ARB Refuted

    The Conservative Refuge: 3/30/2015

    in Politics Conservative

    On tonight's show:

With the state budget approaching a final passage, the issue of tax relief takes center stage.  We'll discuss.

A new report shows the O'Malley health care exchange bilked tens of millions from US taxpayers leaving yet another mess for the Hogan administration to clean up.

With doctor assisted suicide bills reaching votes in Annapolis, I share (and skewer) an absurd editorial on the subject in a local Maryland paper.

Wesley J. Smith suggests we celebrate electricity instead of "Earth Day". I agree.

And because people judge you by the words you use, 15 pairs of words that seem etymologically related but are not.
