Companies with multiple locations have unique logistical issues. Often, these issues do not lend themselves to a cost effective ‘traditional’ physical inventory solution.
Today we are speaking with Scott Tyler, Principal, State & Local Tax Practice, SC&H Group, about SC&H’s proprietary solution for streamlining fixed asset verification in time for personal property tax compliance season.
Did you know there are approximately 9 billion devices, assets, and ‘things’currently connected to a network? Over the next decade that number is expected to increase significantly with estimates ranging from 50 billion to nearly 1 trillion! It's about engine control units on industrial vehicles, track signaling equipment on railways, water pumps in power generation stations, and the list goes on and on. It's all about Enterprise Asset and Facility management (EAM, IWMS) solutions which will enable organizations to reduce operational and capital expenses, manage risk and compliance, and improve the performance of their infrastructure to meet business requirements.
Why does this matter? Opportunity and Risk. In a recent study by the McKinsey Global Institute, smarter infrastructure (a.k.a. the internet of things) has the potential to create an economic impact of $2.7 trillion to $6.2 trillion ANNUALLY by 2025. Conversely, the increasing complexity of assets and things raises operational risk, requires new skills across life cycle, and is impacting existing business processes and cultural norms.
The potential for innovation and optimization is nothing short of spectacular. That's what this podcast is all about. Pete Karns, a thought leader on Asset Management, will, explore the shifts in the market for asset and facility management, share best practices learned from 1,000's of companies from around the world and dive into the innovation potential of Cloud, Analytics, and Mobility.
EXAMPLE (Demonstrating, Modeling, Showing)
How are others impacted by our actions?
We are responsible for the example we set. The word therefore is a clue that what follows is important! We must not live with only our own survival in mind. Others will follow our example, and we have a responsibility to them if we claim to live for Christ. Does your example make it easier for others to believe, follow, and mature in Christ? Or would those who follow you end up confused and misled?

Philosopher Dr. Diana Hsieh interviewed educator Kelly Elmore about "Why Growth Mindsets Matter" in this episode of Philosophy in Action Radio.
Carol Dweck's book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success offers a new perspective on learning. People with a "fixed mindsets" believe that traits like intelligence or social skills are fixed and cannot be changed much. People with "growth mindsets" believe that humans have the potential to change the traits they possess and constantly learn and improve. As a part of the research for her dissertation, Kelly Elmore has explored the psychological research conducted by Dweck and other cognitive psychologists that led to Dweck's development of the concept of "mindsets." In this interview, she explained what mindsets are, how they impact our lives, and how we can develop growth mindsets in ourselves and encourage them in others.
Kelly Elmore is working on her PhD in rhetoric and composition at Georgia State University. She is in the planning stages of writing her dissertation, which will focus on Carol Dweck's concept of mindset and its relevance to writing.

Vikings come in all shapes and sizes, evidently. Born with a healthy appetite for competition, Noora Kuusivuori served on both the national women's swimming and baseball teams in her native Finland before spinning heads stateside in figure competitions across the country and now in the fitness modeling industry. You can find her in magazines like Muscle & Fitness Hers, Oxygen, Oxygen Magazines Glutes Special, Planet Muscle, BFW, Fitness X and the list continues to grow.
Noora has a natural edge over her competitors, and it's not just her 5'10" frame or charming smile, although they don't hurt. It's her genuine passion for her sport and every little detail comprising it. Just ask her about nutrition and you'd think she invented the subject herself. And judging by her abs, she may as well have. They don't make TVs with that kind of definition. But make no mistake, it's all the product of hard work.
And when you truly love what you do, it's hard to fail. Since joining the women's figure circuit in 2010, Noora has hit goals such as becoming a finalist at the Arnold Amateur IFBB International Figure Championships, making the top 10 at the biggest National Physique Committee (NPC) show in history, the USA Figure Championships, placing 4th at a European IFBB show and winning several other shows. Her relentless dedication is evident in every muscle fiber in her body.
When she's not readying her abs for world domination, Noora, who has an MBA and speaks multiple languages, spends her time working on her company NK Medical Group and raising her son, Thor. The left over time she spends modeling on the set of fitness photo shoots. Lately, we have seen Noora in many fitness magazines nationwide and internationally every month as well as modeling for companies like Nike and Under Armour.
