The 3 Pillars of Strength: Increase Your Physical, Mental, & Spiritual Fitness

    in Motivation

Having strength or "being strong" comes in many forms.

When people think of being "fit" or having "strength," they may think of physical strength, but that's just one piece of the puzzle. A vital piece, but just one piece.

To be the best person you can be, it's crucial you're strong in all aspects of their life, which includes being strong physically, mentally and spiritually.

We ALL have room for improvement, and this is the premise for my new book:

"The 3 Pillars of Strength: Increasing Your Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Fitness."

    Section 1: Physical Fitness
Finding exercises that work best for you, and being realistic with your goals and expectations.

    Section 2: Mental Fitness
Learning to deal with life's' trials and tribulations; dealing with stress, and dealing with negativity in a positive way

    Section 3: Spiritual Fitness
Finding inner peace; staying true to your convictions; not falling victim to outside pressures to do things you know aren't right

Each of these are important in their own right, but it's time to put all 3 together!

Join me on blog talk radio where I give a preview of the book and elaborate on the importance of being strong in all 3 aspects of your life, as well as the benefits!

It's time to become the best we can be! Knowledge is power!

    Ebola and Nursing Students

    in Health

Nursing students must enter healthcare facilities to meet the clinical component of nursing education. With the recent diagnosis of clients with Ebola on US soil and the CDC's changing guidelines, nursing educators are engaged in conversations on how this affects students. What are the students saying? With all the information that has been reported and debated in the media, there is no doubt that students may have concerns on how this affect them. Does anyone expect that a nursing student would be asked to care for someone diagnosed with Ebola? Do we have to re-think our approach to education on infection control? Let's have a conversation about that.

Tai Chi as a group fitness class

    in Fitness

    Greetings Group Fitness Instructor peeps!

As I finished my tai chi practice this morning, I was inspired to record this show.

What's MindBody fitness? What does that even mean? I describe how I interpret MindBody fitness and why it is important that GFIs pay attention to this essential healing practice.

    Questions explored include:

How do we adapt a tai chi class successfully to a group fitness format?

How do instructors create a standard format for teaching tai chi to students

Is tai chi for fighting or healing in the group fitness arena?

Can fitness instructors learn to mimic martial arts forms effectively?

Do instructors need to know the martial (fighting) aspects of tai chi to teach it?

How long will it take before you can start teaching a tai chi class?

How is a tai chi class structured for a 30-minute session?

    And more....

You can connect to me on my Facebook page as MindBody Group Fitness Arts Foundation.

In-Home Caregivers Can Provide Much Needed Assistance for Seniors with Limited Mobility
Seniors with limited mobility can remain in the safety and familiarity of their homes thanks to the qualified assistance of in-home caregivers.

If you have aging parents with limited mobility you have most likely been researching various home health care providers that provide services for the elderly.

Limited mobility can range from pain and stiffness in the knees and back, to being wheelchair-bound. Moving around the house with the assistance of a walker or a cane can make it challenging to do normal household chores.

Bringing in a home health aide to help with activities such as:
    • Bathing
    • Dressing
    • Exercise
    • Meals
    • Housekeeping
    • Transportation

Immediate family members are most often the ones who must provide care for their aging loved ones, but there are many services available to help people who are caring for an elderly relative.

Firstat Nursing Services has been providing a higher standard of home nursing, home health and home care services for elderly, disabled and injured people in the greater San Diego area since 1997.
