Sudan Journey with Scott Jenkins
Scott Jenkins finished a journey through Southern Sudan shortly after a 21 year civil war ended. He is in his seventh year of helping with orpan care and elementary education in the villages of South Sudan. Scott will tell what it was like to forge ahead with a dangerous journey and what it is like to persevere in building, continuing and growing his non-profit Southern Sudan Humanitarian.
Many Mormons were killed and the rest driven from the state of Missouri in the 1830s. Today, the people of Western Missouri love them and welcome them as neighbors. In 2012, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints completed the Kansas City Temple. Shirley Murdock is the Director of Public Affairs for the Independence Missouri Stake of the Church. She is the special guest for this program and will tell us how the people of Western Missouri have answered the call of Finishers Wanted to accomplish great things.
"The distinctive double towers of the Kansas City Missouri Temple rise majestically over I-435 in Kansas City's Northland. Nearly 91,000 people toured the Kansas City Missouri Temple during its public open house. Because of the high number of reservations made for tour times, the open house was extended an additional week."

You seemed to have all your ducks in row. You made all the right calls and talked with the right people. You wrote down important facts. You done all this and still something goes wrong. You thought you had that job. You thought you were going to that interview. You thought you had that car. You thought you had that house. You thought you wanted that man. You thought you wanted that woman. You did all you knew you could do, but yet still nothing goes right.
Psalm 30: 11

Workshop Wednesdays Radio with Host Tony Gambone and His Guest Anthony Tenaglier.
Anthony Tenaglier - No, the tattooed and pierced engineer with a Mohawk wanted a different song and dance in life. He knew it. It didn’t have to be in front of millions of people on TV. He didn’t care if he was a celebrity. He only cared if he could design his own life’s song and dance.
But when he looked in the mirror, he never felt he was good enough to do it. He felt his work was for retirement, that he needed to find a woman to marry - right now! - and that his "education" was forgotten, information buried in textbooks and never again applied.
But why did he even need the high-paying job or the shiny ring? Who said they were even what he was supposed to value in his life, anyway?
Today, Tony the Philosophical Engineer continually applies the concept of philosophical engineering to design new ways of thinking about a life worth living.

HOLIDAY SEASON HAS BECOME LESS ABOUT SHOPPING AND MORE ABOUT FAMILY TIME. THERE'S ALWAYS THOSE SALES GOING ON, AND PEOPLE BREAK THEIR NECKS TO GO BROKE OVER ELECTRONICS, AND A BUNCH OF OTHER THINGS. THAT'S COOL AND ALL, BUT I'D RATHER BE WITH MY FAMILY. SINCE I MOVED TO MARYLAND, I DON'T SEE THEM MUCH BECAUSE LIFE HAS GOTTEN HECTIC. HOWEVER, YOU CAN DEFINITELY CATCH ME BREAKING MY NECK TO GO SEE THEM FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
WE OFTEN TAKE OUR FAMILY FOR GRANTED, BUT DON'T REALIZE IT. I USE TO THINK MY GRANDPARENTS WOULD ALWAYS BE AROUND, SAME WITH THE AUNTS, UNCLES, COUSINS AND CLOSE FRIENDS TOO! IF YOU'RE ABLE TO BE WITH PEOPLE WHO YOU CALL FAMILY, HOLD THEM CLOSE AND NEVER LET THE GO. SET YOUR FAMILY AS A PRIORITY EVEN WHEN LIFE IS HECTIC!
I ALWAYS WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR TUNING IN THIS YEAR! IT'S BEEN A ROCKY ON, BUT I'M SO THANKFUL FOR EVERY SEGMENT YOU'VE LISTENED TO. LIKE MOST THINGS I WANT TO ACCOMPLISH IN LIFE, IT STARTS WITH A DREAM. I WAS NERVOUS ABOUT STARTING THIS RADIO SEGMENT, BUT TOOK A LEAP OF FAITH, AND HAVEN'T LOOKED BACK YET. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING TO MY CRAZY STORIES, AND JUST BEING THERE!!
I LOVE YOU!

You see them all the time. Homeless people, wandering downtown, hanging around convenience stores or busy intersections panhandling for anything...money, food, a ride. I met Linda, a 52 year old, one-eyed homeless woman in Waco, TX. At first, she just asked me if I could help by giving her a little money..."anything you can spare would be appreciated." So, I reached in my pocket and pulled out some cash and gave her a couple of dollars. But before I did, I wanted to know a little about her life..."How did you come to be here?" I asked. She told me of her daily challenges and fearful nights living in the streets of Waco. She explained what happened to her and how she lost her eye. "I was sleeping, and someone swung at me with an ax," she said, as she pulled back her cap and hair, to reveal the damage to her skull. She's bouncing from place to place...one homeless shelter to another. One convenience store to another. I went in to pay for gas and as I was walking back to pump gas, she asked me if I could give her a ride. I agreed on one condition, that she would allow me to record her story during our drive. Tonight, I'll air she short interview. Call ins welcome.
Tonight, we will discuss what it feels like to dance in to your authentic self. What does it take to go out in to the world and be the person you always wanted to be? What does it feel like to inspire the world to come together for a common goal.

The idea for this prayercast has been in my mind for a while. When it first popped up in my brain, I shooed it away, thinking it was just an errant thought. Over time, the idea began to solidify but I was still unsure. After all, I wanted to be certain it was something the Lord was leading me to do instead of a nice idea. Two weeks ago, at choir rehearsal, we had an impromptu intercessory prayer for one of our choir members going through. There are no words to describe what is it like to be aware of the Spirit in the room. Here, I knew the idea for this prayercast was definitely of the Lord and that He wanted me to do this.
Prayer is the order of the day. It's as simple as that. if there was ever a time the Body of Christ needed to come together & pray, it's now. For the church, for our families, and for our countries. The Bible verse from 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Often this has been taken out of context to be used as sort of a 'bell call' to God to give us what we want. But this verse is calling us to humbleness, repentance, & dependence on the Lord.
For this edition of the Write Stuff, we will be taking prayer requests. Although my show focuses on authors, we're not going to hang up the phone if you want prayer.
