CUBANOS IN WISCONSIN BY SILVIO CANTO JR
Humberto Fontova was born in Havana, Cuba. He and his family of 5 attempted to leave in 1961, but only 4 of them were successful. Humberto Fontova Sr. (author's father) was grabbed by the milicianos. He yelled to Esther (mother) and the 3 kids (Humberto age 7, Patricia age 8, and Enrique age 5) to "Go ahead!....Whatever happens to me, I don't want ya'll growing up here!" The next day, from a cousin's house in Miami, Esther called Cuba and found out that Humberto Sr. was in La Cabana, firing squad central where 2100 men and boys were murdered. Humberto Sr. stayed there for 3 months and then was released and returned to his family in New Orleans.
History records few propaganda campaigns as phenomenally successful or enduring as Castro and Che’s. The Longest Romance exposes the full scope of this deception; it documents the complicity of major U.S. media players in spreading Castro’s propaganda and in coloring the world’s view of his totalitarian regime. Castro’s cachet as a celebrity icon of anti-Americanism has always overshadowed his record as a warmonger, racist, sexist, Stalinist, and godfather of modern terrorism. The Longest Romance uncovers this shameful history and names its major accomplices.
Joaao Cerqueira, author of "The tragedy of Fidel Castro", a novel about Castro, JFK and other characters.

Angelina Castro bio @AngelinaCastroX http://www.angelinacastrolive.com/
I was born in La Habana, Cuba on September 6, 1982. I left my country when i was 10 years old and moved to Dominican Republic. I got to the United states when i was 12 years old. I was a private school nerd. I had a pretty normal life. As a Cuban American young woman living in Miami i got involved since an early age in politics, i attended various school riots againt Fidel Castro in the exile. I made it to the newspapers a couple of times. I graduated HIgh School with honors and when i decided to go to college i wanted to become a chiropractor. All dreams don't come true but i got close to mine and became a therapist.
Tune in this Friday night I will be speaking with in my opinion a future UFC champ! I have the Undefeated Lightweight Amature MMA Fighter Ryan Louis Castro out of East West MMA coming on to talk about his biggest fight yet on March 28th at New York Fight Exchange The Fight Marches On at Club Amazura. He will be fighting for the WKA NY State 155 Championship Title against Sam Supersayian Watford who's taking on his last fight as an amateur before he makes his pro debut at Bellator. Judging from Ryan's last fight at Platinum Gloves 8 where he beat Drew Nolan in the first round in 22 seconds Ryan is a force to be reckoned with so this is going to be a fight you don't want to miss!
Vanessa-Franchesca Castro was born in Los Angeles, CA in 1985, where she grew up around the rich heritage of the Unversiity of California.
As a sports journalist, Vanessa found that several of the biggest problems for some women regarding football, were breaking the language barrier, explaining the process, and dissecting the terms. This is where The Modern Girls' Guide to the Gridiron - Second Edition comes in: a comprehensive guide on all things football, with exciting, unfiltered analysis and references to subjects that relate to women. Lets Tackle this together.
Between 1960 and 1962 more than 14,000 Cuban children escaped Fidel Castro’s communist regime as part of an airlift known as Operación Pedro Pan. LORENZO PABLO MARTÍNEZ was one of these children. In CUBA, ADIÓS: A Young Man's Journey to Freedom, Martínez vividly recounts his participation in a program that bridged two different cultures and achieved great political significance over the years. At eighteen, he forfeits a music scholarship to Prague to accept an unknown future of exile in America without knowing the language, money to pursue an education, or family to help. Plagued by guilt around his sexual identity and having to care for a younger brother, Martínez forges ahead to become the composer of his future; later he opens the doors that enable his sisters and parents to join him after a harrowing sojourn in Mexico City. With the same determination, he attends college and pursues a music education, obtaining a master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music, then a doctorate from Columbia University. Even after his music compositions are published and performed on television and at international festivals, Martínez feels restless and spiritually unfulfilled. Until, that is, he is able to define the true music of his freedom. CUBA, ADIÓS is a poignant, thoughtful account of one boy’s survival and self-acceptance, written with unflinching honesty and a wry humor.

There are some artists who are just rooted in your soul..who make no bullshyt excuses.....who just get right down to it...Wil Gibson is THAT artist... I promise..
Wil Gibson was born from a good idea and a bottle of bourbon. He was raised in some of the poorest communities northern Illinois and eastern Arkansas have to offer. He now lives in Portland (the one in Maine) and likes it a lot there (you probably would too). He writes too many love poems and not nearly enough of his novel. A proud (mistake prone) father of four who tries real hard and is still growing up.
He has performed with or opened for; Regie Gibson (no relation), Charlie Neville, Brother Ali, mybrightestdiamond, Toki Wright, Patricia Smith, and Kurtis Blow (among others) in dive bars, high schools, colleges, poetry slams, libraries, living rooms, restaurants, prisons, coffee houses, and churches from Bellingham, Washington to Boston, Massachusetts and beyond.
He was runner up at the 2010 and 2011 Arkansas Grand Slam, audience favorite 2010 Arkansas Grand Slam, three time (2008-2010) Portland, Maine/Port Veritas Grand Slam Champion, 2010 New Hampshire/Slam Free or Die Grand Slam Champion, has represented Portland, Maine six times (2008-2012, 2014) at the National Poetry Slam, including the 2011 team that made semifinals.
He has toured nationally solo and as part of:
Uncomfortable Laughter (w/ Beau Williams, Kait Rokowski, and Ryan McLellan)
guyslikeyou (w/ Beau Williams and Ryan McLellan)
is an honorary member of Chicago 4 Star Poetry(w/ Billy Tuggle, Andi Kauth, Rik Vazquez, Melanie “George” Decelles, Ashley Hart, and Patricia Smith)
and is a founding member of the Port Veritas artist collective.
He likes people and dogs a lot. He would like to pet your dog, talk to you a few minutes, and possibly give you a hug if that’s ok.

Victor Triay, author and college professor, joins me for a chat about the Latin American left. We will also hear from Michael Prada.
We will look at the death of Gabriel Garcia-Marquez, the well known author of the Spanish language, who died in Mexico City.
My concern is that Mr Garcia-Marquez is another one of those Latin American intellectuals who loved Fidel Castro more than the Cuban people. How else do you explain his fascination with Castro? Why the selective indignation?
