David Banks of Enchantment on Everybody is a Star with Choclet Banks

    in Music

Formed in the late 60s at Detroit's Pershing High School, Enchantment became one of the most enjoyable but underrated groups of the late 70s and early 80s. Consisting of lead singer Emanuel "EJ" Johnson, Bobby Green, Mickey Clanton, Joe Thomas and Dave Banks, Enchantment was for many years a local favorite, playing gigs in the Detroit area while hoping to ultimately score a record contract.

Enchantment had its first big break in 1976, as the group signed with the Roadshow label and recorded a debut album with young producer (and future Motown executive) Michael Stokes.
Enchantment's debut album, "Enchantment", boasted two top ten R&B hits, "Sunshine" and the beautiful ballad, "Gloria," both written by E.J. Johnson.

As we enter the second decade of the new millennium, Enchantment continues to perform in multi-group Soul Music shows around the world.
While their time topping the R&B charts was brief, Enchantment certainly made an impact with a string of lush, extremely well performed songs that still sound great nearly four decades after the group's peak!

    General Consumer Debt Statistics

Credit card debt is only part of the picture when it comes to consumer debt in America. Total consumer debt in the U.S. is at $2.43 trillion as of May, 2011. Not surprisingly, this has caused serious economic fallout for many Americans.

Total bankruptcy filings reached 1.4 million in 2009
Total consumer debt per household now averages $16,046 (down from $35,245 prior to the economic downturn in 2008)

Total debt per household with credit cards still averages $54,000 (also down from $93,850 in 2008)

Young Americans (age 25-34) have the second highest rate of bankruptcy after Americans 35-44, meaning the younger you are the tougher your financial situation seems to be
The average college student graduates with $20,000 of debt
Nearly 1 in 5 Americans ages 18-24 qualify themselves as being in “debt hardship”
26% of Americans admit to not paying their bills on time
Prior to the economic downturn, 14.7% of American families held debt exceeding 40% of their household income

Given the tough state of the economy Americans are now struggling to get their finances back on track. Particularly for families with credit card debt this can be a difficult journey. In many cases, you could take the next 20-30 years to pay back what you owe right now alone – and that’s if you don’t buy anything else on credit!

Nats Nightly: Nationals drop series opener to Phillies, 4-3 in D.C.

    in Baseball

Max Scherzer struggled in the first inning again, before going on to make a decent start, but the Washington Nationals rallied to tie it after falling behind early, only to eventually drop the series opener with the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 4-3. Philly righty Vince Velazquez impressed again with mid-90s heat and a nice curve, and the Phillies' strategy of limiting the damage Bryce Harper could do paid off in the end.

Charlotte Hornets NBA Playoffs Round 1: Hornets Hustle Beats Miami Muscle

    in Basketball

Games 3 and 4 were dramatically different in score and style and that played right into the hands of the Charlotte Hornets. They used aggressive rim attacks and opportunistic defense to counter the adjustments the Miami Heat made to take away the three point line and dominate the paint.

Now the series shifts back to Miami where the biggest question will be how Miami reacts to having their defense shredded by Charlotte's Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lin. Will they back off their pressure defense and will the three ball return to the Hornets arsenal of offensive weapons? Listen for our analysis of Game 4 and our preview of a pivotal Game 5.

Nata Edwards from WFNZ and the Mic Check Podcast joins with his thoughts on some controversial comments by local product turned Heat star Hassan Whiteside after Game 4
For the first time, the NBA is publicly releasing "Hustle Stats" exclusively for the 2016 NBA Playoffs. We'll tell you what stats they are keeping and how the Hornets have fared so far in this series.
Sources tell us local Miami grocers are selling out of tin foil. A select group of Heat fans are breaking out conspiracies to explain away two straight losses. We explain why they are fools.

Countdown to the NFL draft and we recap a wild Sunday in MLB

    in Sports

The MLB season may only be a few weeks old, but Sunday provided some fantastic comebacks and amazing finishes. If you are a fan of pitching, Sunday was not the day for you to enjoy baseball. If you like home runs and extra base hits, there were more than enough to go around on Sunday afternoon. The Pittsburgh Pirates held an 8-4 advantage heading into the eigth inning. Tony Watson and Mark Melancon are suppose a dominate 1-2 punch at the end of the game. The duo gave up four runs and the game headed to extra innings. Both teams exhuasted their bench players and needed to use starting pitchers as pinch-hitters. The Pirates scored twice, in the top of the 12th, and it looked like they were headed to victory. However, the Diamondbacks tied the game with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. Tonights starter Zack Greinke singled in the inning, and was replaced by starting pithcer Shelby Miller, as a pinch runner. Miller stayed in the game to play left field. This might have proved costly as Sean Rodriguez drilled a ball over Miller for a double. The Pirates went on to score twice for a 12-10 win. Listen in and call the show with your thoughts on the NFL Draft or some of the crazy games yesterday.
