Show # 295 - Live, Uncut & Uncensored Conversations With "Musicians You Should Know"
Back in July 2015, Lisa Mann was a guest on the show. During our talk she mentioned her niece Aly and her battle with cancer and a benefit, which was going to be held.
I told Lisa to include a silent auction item from me…the chance to co-host and select two guests.
Well in the end Lisa was the winning bid – not sure there were any other bids or Lisa has had this deep desire to fulfill her Robin Quivers Radio Role!
The two musicians she selected are also from the Portland area…Lisa showing love to her peeps in the northwest.
First is Rae Gordon. She was awarded a Muddy Award in 2014 for Best Female Vocalist and is a constant presence in the Northwest Music Scene. I look forward to learning more about Rae during the show.
Kevin Selfe is a Couch Kid and would have been booked for a Couch Kid New Music Segment with the release of his latest, Buy My Soul Back. When Lisa mentioned his name it was a done deal!
As Co-host, Lisa will be asking a lot of the questions and I can guarantee there will be fun galore.
Of course we will hear some music from each of these folks.

When an ethnic group migrates to another country, the group brings its language and culture, which includes food, clothing, and religion. This can be an opportunity for sharing information and learning about one another's history. Or it can create an unpleasant clash of cultures and a hostile power struggle, depending upon how each side views and treats the other. Tony Jones, Executive Director of the Centre for Social Justice and Development Inc., is also Chairman of the National Unity Commission which has been tasked to investigate impediments to unity in Guyana. Today, he'll take a look at the Indianization of the Caribbean. What do we do when immigration creates a clash of cultures and a struggle for dominance? How can we create unity through mutual respect
Tomorrow, Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, people around the country will rush to the stores to begin Christmas shopping. This day is known as Black Friday, because the shopping on this day is so heavy, it makes up for whatever deficit cash flow the store had which kept it in the red all year. Instead of being in a deficit, the stores see huge profits on Friday, because of all the shopping. Hence, it's known as Black Friday. But this year, the anger over police brutality, repeated injustice, and administrations that turn a deaf ear to the cries of th people, have led the the launching of a national campaign to boycott Black Friday, and to abandon the Christmas shopping season altogether, in order to cripple the American economy. How can the withdrawal of the African Americans $1.3 trillion spending power convince lawmakers to do something to stop police misconduct? Our guests today discuss this strategy. Mike Holman with the Stop Mass Incarceration Network, Revin Fellows with the National Black Agenda, and Cassiopia Sledge with TheBlackMall.com.
There was a time when childhood was a period of innocence. Today, with the Internet sending graphic sexual images to every device at our fingertips, that childhood innocence is gone. Are we introducing too much sex too soon to our children? How is it affecting them? There is a scene inSpike Lee's controversial, new film Chiraq in which the lead Character, played by Nick,Cannon has a flashback to a childhood memory in which he walks in on his mother having sex. It gives some insight as to why he later has such disrespect for women. There is a reason why so many children are conceived without love or intention by parents. How do we reclaim innocence for our children and introduce sexuality to them with the wholesome spiritual understanding in a manner that is age appropriate? How dowe protect them from the emotional trauma of public images of too much sex too soon?

Everybody is screaming "Black Power!" and there have been two Million Man Marches in 20 years, but...there is an old saying in politics that goes, "Whatever you subsidize you get more of."
Why don't all of these people screaming, "Black Power!" and "Nationhood!" at the top of their lungs put their money where their mouth is?
On this show will discuss the hypocrisy of refusing to invest your money in Nationhood while simultaneously paying taxes to support the Land, Infrastructure and Nationhood of your enemy.
We will also discuss why the lack of an Afrikan American fund are the absence of a suggestion of one is an indictment against so-called "Black Leadership."
Also, what exactly would an Afrikan American fund accomplish for Black Afrikan people in America?

MALE/FEMALE BATTLER OF THE YEAR ?
Ceet the Author hails from South Philadelphia, where he began honing his craft as an artist as early as age nine. At age fourteen he wrote a short story for his high school English class titled, Summertime in my Neighborhood. Fifteen years later that story became the basis for Ceet's first official release, 2009's The Whore and The Virgin. The book became an instant hood classic and all of the positive feedback inspired Ceet to release his second effort, A Dog's Day, that very same year.
Ceet then began pursuing another passion of his, filmmaking and videography in 2010 by writing, producing and directing several independent film projects while releasing several more novels under the imprint of BRP Entertainment and with several projects down the line, Ceet shows no signs of slowing down...
Kvn Tajzea (Keh-vun Tah- Jhay) is more than your typical R&B singer, songwriter and actor. Kvn began his love affair with music and acting at a very young age. "I was a very sick child growing up and nearly died a few times. I wasn'treally allowed to play outside until the age of 7 because my immune system was so weak." He read, listened to, and watched a plethora of varying artistic expression. Even after becoming healthy enough to lead the normal life of a kid his passion for the arts continued to grow and manifested itself in a variety of ways ranging from poetry, drawing, songwriting and acting. Kvn is an accomplished vocalist with a four octave range whose smooth, syrupy and comforting voice conceals an old school rasp that lets you in on the pain and tribulation that fuels a tone of hope in every note he sings. "The First Return" is Kvn's debut project featuring the production of hit maker Ron Love of MonaRK Productions.

There was a time before television that childhood was a period of innocence. All that is gone now. With the Internet sending graphic sexual images to every device at our fingertips, childhood innocence is gone. What effect is this having on our children. In the controversial, film Chiraq about Chicago's gang violence, there is a graphic flashback scene in which the lead character, played by Nick Cannon, walks in on his mother having sex. This gives insight as to perhaps what happened that destroyed his respect for women. Today, our youth are raised in a culture with no consciousness of morals or family values. As a result children are conceived often without love or intention. Are we introducing too much sexuality to our children too soon and in a negative way that emotionally traumatized them? How do we take back control of the minds of our children and introduce spirituality to sexuality in a way that is wholesome and age appropriate
MC, poet, and activist for peace, J Brave’s greatest gift is his ability to bring people together for the greater good. A former youth counselor for homeless and at-risk youth, he is now one of the three vocalist of the band Luminaries, and has toured the world spreading messages of unity, love, and empowerment through the vehicle of Hip Hop. J Brave produces a weekly conscious club night titled the “Luminous Movement” at Zanzibar in Santa Monica where party goers come to celebrate with intention, and are treated to some of the best music from artists in the festival culture. “We are all luminous beings having a human experience” says Brave, who is always reminding himself and others to awaken to our inner truth, and activate into our highest potential as beacons of light. Also on the horizon is Luminaries documentary film "When The People Lead" about the collective's travels through Palestine and Israel. http://LuminairesMusic.com
