The Female Solution: Can Raising A Relative's Child Affect Your Marriage?

    in Religion

Things happen in families. Someone gets sick, someone dies, someone goes to jail, someone gets strung out on drugs. It happens, our siblings, our cousins, maybe even our close friends, for whatever reason, leave behind children to raise and we choose to step up to the plate. But our choice, rather through a sense of compassion, obligation, or guilt, may not always be our spouse's choice. What if the child is unruly, undisciplined, disobedient and disrespectful? How do we love and care for them anyway? What if their presence disrupts our home? Should we expect our spouse to just continue to be patient and supportive? What happens if a child begins to negatively affect your marriage - and there is no other relative who is willing to step up? Would you put a child who is a blood relative in foster care? Should you, if they become too much to handle?

Joy is certified as a producer in Community Television and volunteers as an Assistant Director in the TV broadcast ministry for her church. in Politics Conservative

Greetings to our ever vigilant and faithful Afronerd Radio listeners!  Join Dburt and Capt. Kirk for another sonic roller coaster ride better known as The Mid Week in Review, courtesy of Afronerd Radio Machine Works!  The topics up for discussion are: an assessment of Panthers' quaterback, Cam Newton's post SB behavior; and speaking of the Superbowl, just how racial, "radical" and disapproving was singer, Beyonce Knowles' half-time SB performance?; our impressions of the New Hampshire presidential primary results; actress Lupita Nyong'o and Ava Duvernay have been tapped to team up (act and direct, respectively) for an Amblin Entertainment (Steven Spielberg!) sci-fi thriller, entitled Intelligent Life; The Root highlights 4 Black female software engineers who received a tech award (The Crunchies) for their start-up, Slack; BLM front man, DeRay Mckesson announces his bid for mayor of Baltimore, MD; a new study shows that Americans do not live as long as their European counterparts. *Honorable mention: Seattle Seahawk and soon to be retiree, Marshawn Lynch purportedly has not spent any of his 9year 50m contract money! An lastly, Dburt still has more to say about The Oscars vs The NAACP Image Awards dynamic (undoubtedly a classic rant).  Call the hosts live at 646-915-9620.
