SORT BY Relevancy
The media has brought to the forefront cases that have caused public outrage and concern. From the curious case of Trayvon Martin killed by George Zimmerman, Michael Brown gunned down as an unarmed felon, to the disturbing incidents surrounding the death of Sandra Bland, there is a definite rise in racial tensions across the United States as the media blares a giant searchlight on situations of African Americans in some sort of confrontation with a Caucasian.
When these incidents come into the public eye, they lead to an overarching question: "Why?" One black man made a very famous statement while being beaten by a group of police officers: "Can't we all just get along?" The statement has been taken seriously and at the same time, been made a parody. But the question, however one puts it remains. "Can't we all just get along?"
Is racism simply part of America's DNA -- what makes up this country? Is this just a thing we have to live with and accept? Will those who try to work to bring harmony on either side be ridiculed? Why can't we as a nation get past this? Why does it keep rearing its head?
Join in on the conversation with my returning guest Melissa Pellew as we try to tackle this issue and others surround the rise of racial tensions in our country. Today on "Moving Forward" we will be in study of Luke, chapter 6, and the question I ask you is, "are you blessed?" Let's break it down:
20 And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God.
21 Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.
22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
If any of these verses reminded you of yourself you are blessed. Walk in your blessings and know that the Lord is with you wherever you go!
This weekend, friend to the show and house music legend Inaya Day joins us with her very talented (and famous) cousins. Recently, I've made acquaintance with Inaya's cousin DeVonde who will co-host this episode with us. DeVonde has a hit new single out "Redemption" and is having a new release out soon. She also has a talented little sister, Akira Dee, who also is an amazing talent. These ladies have a couple of talented male relatives as well including rap artist Poison Pen and Solomon Roberts, Jr lead singer and band leader for the amazingly talented group Skyy who had such amazing hits as "Call Me", "Let's Celebrate" and "Here's To You" as well as others. Be sure to join us as we chat with this amazingly talented family.
