Mothers Against Family Abuse (MAFA, LLC), with Rosemary Dalton

    in Moms and Family

Today we have a slightly impromptu guest - I say that because she has been our guest before, but this time she comes baring her "Mama claws".  Since last we spoke, Rosemary Dalton, founder and President,  has done some miraculous things.  Somewhere around three weeks, she has gone from planning to actually having a State licensed LLC, to testifying before the State in a case for family abuse by the government.  Quite a busy lady!

Today, Rev. Dalton will share her reason and experiences for starting Mothers Against Family Abuse, LLC (M.A.F.A., LLC), her purpose, and dreams for the organization and how you, mean as well as women can get involved.

Here is one spectacular way to stop wishing things will change, to doing something about it!

Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1043

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Stefan Verstappen from Toronto, a writer and martial arts teacher with over 35 years experience. He developed The Little Warrior program featuring The Little Warriors Street Safety Books over a ten-year period of teaching young children safety and self-defense. He is also the author of The Art of Urban Survival, and has done dozens of radio interviews on the subject of his booklet and video on the subject of "Defense Against the Psychopath." Stephan asks, "Since it is impossible for you or someone you can trust to watch over your children at all times what can we do to make sure our children survive such an encounter?" And he answers his own question, "One solution to preventing children from becoming victims is to train them to be able to prevent being targeted." Children do not have to understand all the reasons why something is wrong, they just need to know when something is wrong and what to do. Role playing games teach by doing, rather than lecturing. By physically re-enacting a skill through games and exercises, children create new nerve pathways in the brain that will enable them to use that skill instinctively later if they need to. These good instincts will serve to protect kids their whole lives. The Little Warriors is a unique street-proofing and safety program that teaches kids how to be safe, how to protect themselves from danger, and what to do in an emergency.

Bullying & Emotional Abuse in Adults – Recognize the Signs!

    in Radio

"Courage is fire, and bullying is smoke," stated former British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. Adult bullying is a rising concern in the real world and online. Adults are as malicious as bad kids on the playground, but no one is supervising their activity or protecting their targets. And their victims are other adults who are not immune to the trauma of bullying. When one uses superior strength or influence to intimidate others, that’s classic bullying. Emotional abuse is characterized by subjecting another to behavior that may result in psychological trauma, like anxiety, chronic depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder. In one Seinfeld episode, George and Jerry recall their tyrannical gym teacher who used to give boys wedgies and encourage them to beat each other up. Girls don’t do anything like that, do they? Jerry asks Elaine. Oh no, Elaine replies. We just tease each other until one of us develops an eating disorder. The worst part of being bullied or abused in a relationship, is that often you don’t even realize it’s happening. Manipulative people twist your thoughts, actions, wants, and desires into something that better suits how they see the world. Bullies don’t want cooperation, they want control. Emotional bullying is often subtle and found in adult relationships and in the workplace. An emotional bully might use sarcasm, threaten, belittle, or humiliate. Join me and Life Coach Jenn A Nocera as we discuss the specific signs of bullying and emotional abuse. After the show check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.
