We step back into the past and focus our attention on America’s Unknown Fairy Godmother: Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson Hearst .We discuss her life and her achievements and contributions she left behind to her fellow Americans to benefit from nearly 100 years later. My special guest Karin Harris highlights the footsteps of Phoebe Hearst her triumphs and her tribulations and the quiet legacy she left behind.
Phoebe Elizabeth Apperson at the age of 19, she married George Hearst, who later became a U.S. Senator. Soon after their marriage on June 15, 1862, the couple moved to San Francisco,California, where Phoebe gave birth to their only child, William Randolph Hearst, on April 29, 1863. Upon George’s death on February 28, 1891, her wealth was estimated at $250 million, a staggering sum in those days. Our special guest is Lorena Bathey, author of "Happy Beginnings: How I Became My Own Fairy Godmother" and "Beatrice Munson"
Growing up in the Bay Area of Northern California, Lorena Bathey attended St. Mary’s College in Moraga graduating with a degree in English. Then she traveled, learned about life, and developed great fodder for a book. Losing her mother to cancer and her own marriage’s demise brought her to find herself. She wrote Happy Beginnings: How I Became My Own Fairy Godmother (www.amazon.com) and found speaking and empowering others was her passion.
Lorena Bathey found after writing her first book that characters were visiting her mind and wouldn't leave. She was introduced to Marissa, Andrea, Lily, Deidre and Beatrice and her first novel, Beatrice Munson, came to life. After finishing that book she was inspired to write more novels and she knew that pursuing her passion was the best way to live her life. So a writer she became.
After meeting the love of her life, they embarked on the thrilling life to follow their dreams bringing their families along for the ride. Today Lorena has nine novels in her writing queue all with screenplays in the works.
But writing isn't the only muse that inspires Lorena. She has become a passionate photographer and likes to push the envelope taking shots while learning how to navigate Photoshop. Travel, walking, enjoying new restaurants, and Italy are other loves and things she makes sure she has time for.

Creating a brand from this book, she established a conference for women called, The Love Fest. She planned and promoted this event for two years. Her marketing for this brand led a Senior Executive Producer from the Oprah Show to seek her out. Changing her writing format to writing novels and starting her publishing company, Lorena B Books, Ms. Bathey integrated the work she'd done with Happy Beginnings by creating strong female characters throughout her writing.
Ms. Bathey has spoken for conferences, women's groups, had her own radio show, and promoted self-publishing throughout the ensuing years. She is currently working on her new novel and has three historical fiction books in the writing queue. You can find her at www.LorenaBBooks.com

No matter the size of the baggage, we all have it and it will affect the way we are in new relationships. Dating and relationships can be frustrating and, often, downright painful. What single hasn't dreamt of a fairy dating coach swooping in to help her let go of baggage and find the happy, healthy relationship she craves?
Practice releasing regrets: When a relationship ends, it’s tempting to dwell on what you did wrong or what you could have done differently. This might seem productive—like you can somehow change things by rehashing it. You can’t. All dwelling does is cause you to suffer. When you start revisiting the past in your head, pull yourself into the moment. Focus on the good things in your current situation: the friends who are there for you and the lessons you’ve learned that will help you with future relationships.
Let yourself feel: Losing a relationship can feel like a mini-death, complete with a grieving process. First, you’re shocked and in denial. You don’t believe it’s over and you hold out hope. Next, you feel hurt and guilty. You should have done things differently. If you did you wouldn’t be in this pain. Then, you feel angry and maybe even start bargaining. It would be different if you gave it a second go. You wouldn’t be so insecure, defensive, or demanding. Then you might feel depressed and lonely as it hits you how much you’ve lost.
If Obama doesn’t try to get a third term as President he can always make up fairy tales for a living. He’s pretty good at it now. ISIS has just overrun an Iraqi army base and executed 300 soldiers there. ISIS is still swearing to attack the US and there continues to be a lot of terrorist chatter about attacking the southern border. A few Tomahawk missiles aren’t going to take out ISIS any more than spraying insecticide around your baseboards would take out a nest of cockroaches. They’re actually quite similar. The fact that he continues to hire and promote moslems and say that Islam is a religion of peace tells you nothing meaningful is happening. Meanwhile Putin marches on.
