Most of 2016 to this point has been us waiting for bigger fights to get made and hanging onto every negotiation update. It's okay, though. The boxing world almost always slows down early in the year. Buck up, everyone.

Another reason to cheer up is that Brian Campbell of ESPN joins the Patrick Connor of The Fight City this week to be the resident philosophe. From "Canelo" Alvarez vs Amir Khan being announced, to Gennady Golovkin vs Dominic Wade, Andre Ward vs Sullivan Barrera, Carl Frampton vs Scott Quigg, the heavyweights and more... Campbell will show us the way.

Ep 513 It Khan Not Be | Canelo Alvarez vs Amir Khan BOXiNG Preview

    in Sports

The Pound4Pound Kings of Boxing Broadcast Journalism. ONTHEGRiND BOXiNG is the world's number 1 boxing podcast, and blogtalkradio's original boxing program.

Many boxing observers are accusing Amir Khan's father, Shah Khan of signing his own son's death warrant by negotiation for an agreeing to a fight with lineal middleweight title-holder, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The jump up in weight is widely considered too great for Khan who moves up a full weight class and a pound, to what has become known as "Canelo weight."

Even as "middleweight champion," Canelo is back to doing what he does best, facing smaller challengers nobody in his weight class is worried about.

ONTHEGRiND BOXiNG breaks down the fight in the aftermath along with the latest boxing news, commentary, predictions and analysis from around the boxing world.

Big Picture Health Care Trends & A Legislative Update

    in Business

On this week's show, hosts Andrew Dietz and Doug Field talk with special guests from copatient, Brighton Health Plan Solutions and TASC.

The first guest is Tom Torre, CEO at copatient, a health care expense management company. In this segment, Tom joins the hosts to discuss the big health care trends that copatient is seeing in the market today and why copatient exists. As an industry veteran with past executive roles at FIS Global and Alegeus Technologies, Tom will also touch upon copatient’s medical bill review and negotiation service and out-of-network claims management service and what benefit these services have to health plans, employers, brokers and TPAs.

The second guest is Simeon Schindelman, CEO of Brighton Health Plan Solutions (parent company of MagnaCare). The traditional health care system fails to align the interests of the key players, doesn’t put consumer care first and also underserves other key stakeholders, such as care providers, plan sponsors, families of patients and brokers/agents. Educating plan sponsors and plan participants about options and tradeoffs, while developing trusting relationships so they value advice being offered, will improve their ability to access and use the health care system most appropriately. In this interview, Simeon and the hosts talk about thoughtful approaches to lowering health care costs, improving quality and increasing the satisfaction of all participants in the health care system.

The final guest on this week's program is Jason Westphal, legislative analyst at TASC. As head of TASC’s Governmental Affairs team, a member of ECFC and former chief of staff in the Wisconsin State Assembly, Jason will provide listeners with insights on legislative issues pertaining to compliance for the small employer, document storage, sharing and tracking, the Employer Shared Responsibility Mandate and ERISA.

    Mama Used to Say...

    in Self Help

I was talking to my sisterfriend Jeannette the other day when our conversation turned to things our mothers used to say. Her mother told her and her siblings not to eat at other people's houses. Why? She figured her mother didn't want people to think they were hungry. Well, growing up I was hungry. Quite a lot. I told my friend I would have broken that rule.

What were some of the things YOUR mother used to say? What did she say about LOVE, SEX, MEN, MONEY, GOD, EDUCATION, WORK, WOMEN, MOTHERHOOD...LIFE?

Here's what I'd like to know:

Did you live by these things?

Do you still live by mama's rules, even the "crazy" ones?

Tell us about a rule you released and why.

My mother, a devout Christian woman of few words, told me very, very little about men. But there was one thing that she told all five of her daughters about men that I finally had to release. I'll share that on the show.

Cohosting with me is Ericka Sallee, a speaker, writer, and the Owner of TruSynergy, a health and wellness company. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Negotiation and Conflict Management from the University of Baltimore.

The influence of a mother in the lives of her children is beyond calculation. - James E. Faust, religious leader, lawyer and politician 1920 -2007

You have a dream, now choose to live it!

    in Women

Dr. King's voice rings out loud and clear on today because it is the day we recognize his life. He talked about there being a dream, not only his dream or his vision, but how each of us have the same right. You have a right to dream of a life that is empowering, inspiring and uplifting for yourself.

Your dream is not up for negotiation. It is not up to someone else to decide what you can and can not do. You do need support to make the dream come to reality, however you must first take a chance on your. The Universe will conspire to make it come to pass for you. There is no way that when you are in the right place with the right thought process that you can not have what will make your life the one you have dreamed about.
