GOD IS KIND
TALKING TO GOD
Ask God to help you notice the ways He is kind to you and to others.
Fill a bowl with a bag of your family's favorite small treats. As a family, take turns sharing ways God has been kind to you today. Enjoy a piece of candy for each example given.
God's kindness can be personal, meant especially for one person. David experienced God's kindness, and he praised God for it, saying, "He reached down from on high and took hold of me" (Psalm 18:16).
God's kindness may also affect many people in a particular way. God shows His kindness through the ongoing provision described in Acts 14:17: "He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons."
God's kindness is part of His nature. It's easy to overlook the everyday expressions of His kindness, but as you intentionally look for them, you become more aware of God's love.
TALKING TO EACH OTHER
- Talk about a time when God has been kind to you
- Why is it important to notice God's kindness?
22Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off.
Where do I begin ? The Roethlisberger case being used to defend Ray Rice, the unstoppable Ebola virus sounds like something out of a horror movie! & I didn't know Kanye West was a Christian ! All this stuff plus the lastest news. Call in at (347) 996-5369 or kick back. :0)

Join us this week on Christian Devotions SPEAK UP! as laughter and an encouraging testimony take center stage as Scott interviews Torry Martin.
Although Martin has a long list of accomplishments as an actor, author, storyteller, and a stand-up comedian, he prefers to use his gifts for laughter, writing, and entertaining to bring serious messages to audiences through the softening blows of humor. After telling a typical “Torry Story” revolving around his own blundering and misfortune, Martin pulls in the spiritual lesson in a sometimes subtle way. “If I can keep them laughing while they’re learning, it doesn’t hurt their brains as much.”
Martin was a stand-up comic and actor in Los Angeles before he became a Christian. After finding the Lord, Martin moved to Alaska and lived in a remote cabin with a friend who was studying for ministry. He gave up acting and comedy for two years and studied the Bible while becoming grounded in his faith. After being encouraged by some friends at his church, Torry began writing comedy sketches which he entered into the national competition sponsored by the Gospel Music Association called Christian Artists, now called Seminar in the Rockies. He won the grand prize two years in a row and now returns annually as an instructor. Martin has written for Adventures in Odyssey, a children’s radio series produced by Focus on the Family. For this self-proclaimed “hippie-for-the-Holy-One,” the melding of talent and faith has also resulted in the release of several books, including Under the Circumstances, and What a Character. Both are collections of comedy sketches about Christian life.
We can try to have the highest grades and be the best at school. We can try to be the best at sports. But being smart and good at sports doesn’t define who we are. We have to realize that others cannot create our identity.
God has already told us who we are. He says that no matter how smart we are, how weak or strong we are, how athletic we are, or how much people like us, we are loved by Him and matter so much to Him.
Through our weakness we are able to see how great and strong God is. It doesn’t matter if others say we aren’t good at something, God says He can use all of us to show His love to the world.
? Who do you think God says you are?
2 Corinthians 11:30-31
There is no such thing as a perfect identity. If you always try to be someone that others will like, you’ll end up not having peace in your life. To have peace in our lives, we must listen to God and get comfortable being who He wants us to be. We’re meant to rely on Him, to know His love for us, and trust that God shows us our identity.
Part of living a godly life is having a group of friends who support you in your relationship with Him. Being a part of a godly community is vital in not forgetting that who we are is defined by God and not others.
Which of your friends and family help support you in your relationship with Christ?
2 Corinthians 5:16-17
