The politics of ethnic avoidance -- how elected officials of one ethnic group limit their policy activity that is acutely useful to that same one -- is today’s topic.
Much has been made of Barack Obama’s ascension to the presidency as a marker in American race relations. There were lurking questions among some of his conservative critics who argued that he would show favoritism to African Americans. Two generations ago, however, more than a few observers raised similar questions about another American ethnic, Senator John F. Kennedy, as he sought the presidency. Would Kennedy, as President, take orders from the Vatican? My guest today has recently published a book that compares these two historical presidential campaigns and offers some interesting thoughts on what they say about America. Robert C. Smith is Professor of Political Science at San Francisco State University and the author of numerous books and articles on various angles of American politics. His latest is John F. Kennedy, Barack Obama, and the Politics of Ethnic Incorporation and Avoidance.

First I want to apologize to all my regular listeners for not broadcasting last week. I have no excuse so my apology hopefully will be taken in it's stead.
Now I would like to talk about all the various chambers of commerce. We have the Black, Mexican, Chinese, etc. I find the existence of these various chambers to be devisive and less useful.
We are Americans and we should work together as Americans to address the needs of various cultures so that they feel included in our daily lives not excluded.
Commerce is every culture's business. We need to work together to make this a better world and stop letting other people dictate the terms. In the U.S. we are the United States of America, united we stand divided we fall prey to our enemies. Never forget the men and women who have struggled to keep this country free and not make a mockery of their sacrifice.
Chambers of commerce exist to educate and expand the services provided and make this a better world to live in.

Today on "It's My House" we shall discuss how entire neighborhoods can be displaced via "Neighborhood Jacking". Gentrification can and IS used to "ethnic cleanse" neighborhoods and communities. We shall discuss how to recognize it in it's early stages and how to reverse it. In addtion, we shall discuss how to prevent "ethnic cleansing via gentrification".
Feel free to call in with any questions or comments and please have pen and paper ready to take plenty of notes.
The information on todays podcast can save your home and neighborhood.
We have two awesome topics to cover tomorrow. First is "Big Love: All Sizes Deserve Love"; Female or Male matter their size deserve to be happy with someone. So many people are stuck on outer appearance that they will take on an unhealthy mate in order to keep up a front to people. Love who makes you happy, outer beauty will be only for a short period in this lifetime.
And for our second topic "For The Love Of Melanin Women"; From Personal Opinion and Experience, I've notice across many cultures darker skinned Women are not viewed as Desirable. As a Black Women I get the you're so Dark, Too Black, Nappy Hair, Too Much Attitude, Ghetto, Overly Strong in the sense of being too Independent etc etc... I could go on for days. But what's even more disgusting are the from other Ethnic Backgrounds who want to be with a Black Woman but not in the Public Eye. Like a Closet Type Of Relationship. I Want You But Too Embarrassed By Your Skin-tone...

Lost to many whose news sources in the USA consists of the major newspapers and the standard networks, for most of the last dozen+ years, the conflict in Afghanistan has not been a USA-Centric battle; it has been a NATO run operation.
When the Commander of the International Security Assistance Force has been an American 4-star, the visuals can be misleading.
For most of the last decade, American forces were dominate in only one region of Afghanistan, the east. Other NATO nations from Italy/Spain in the west, Germany in the North, and Commonwealth nations and the Dutch in the south.
More important than the actual numbers involved, it was the Rules of Engagement, caveats, and the fickle nature of national politics that drove what effects those forces had on the ground.
The good, the bad, and the ugly of modern coalition warfare was all in view for all in Afghanistan, but outside small circles, has yet to be fully discussed.
Our guest for the full hour will be Stephen Saideman.
Stephen holds the Paterson Chair in International Affairs at Carleton University’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs.
