With the advent of spring & summer many of us face additional stress! Stress from the heat, visitors and so much more. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a system to help handle or eliminate stress?
Today on the show, Inez Bracy in joined by Cj Sugita-Jackson to discuss tips on using Essential Oils to reduce stress.
Stress is the body’s normal reaction to abnormal situations either in the outside environment or internal physical or emotional changes.
Stress is not always negative, sometimes external stressors require unusual responses and stress describes the body’s ability to make emergency changes. Scientifically a model used to describe stress includes 3 stages:
Stage 1: Alarm. When the stressor is first sensed the body will produce adrenaline (and other hormones) producing the fight-or-flight response.
Stage 2: Resistance. If the stressor continues the body tries to adapt to the stressor.
Stage 3: Exhaustion. As the body tries to adapt to the cause of the stress it may eventually not be able to cope with the demands placed on it.
The long term effects of Stage 3 can result in physical and emotional/mental disorders. Digestive system problems, ulcers, diabetes, cardiovascular problems, depression, sleeping disorders, and other emotional situations can all be related to stress. The various body systems call all be affected: Nervous System, Cardiovascular System, Endocrine System, Gastro-intestinal System, Muscular System, Reproductive System and Respiratory System.
Life can pass right by while you are trying to figure out what you’re going to do. When your desire to go forward becomes greater than the memories of the past, you will begin to live again. Until you get a vision that there is a tomorrow, you will live in yesterday and stay stuck in the struggle.
Recovery from loss is achieved by a series of small, decisive and correct choices, made by the griever. The process is discovering and pursuing completion of all unfinished emotional business.

Someone makes an inappropriate comment, maybe a racist or sexist joke. You feel uncomfortable and hope that someone else will speak up. Everyone hopes that someone else will speak up. Uncomfortable silence falls. What does it take for active bystanders to speak up? When they do so, they can often avert brewing conflict. Maureen Scully is a Professor of Management and is currently the Interim Dean at the College of Management at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She coined the term "tempered radicals," with Debra Meyerson, to study how change agents inside the workplace take actions that push boundaries and make a difference. She conducts training workshops on how to be an active bystander – in universities, businesses, non-profits, and everyday life. Maureen is a coauthor of a textbook widely used in MBA programs, Managing for the Future: Organizational Behavior and Processes, now in its 3rd edition, and a coeditor of a volume on gendered approaches to work and change, Reader in Gender, Work and Organization.
