Cancer in Families - Lynch Syndrome

    in Health

Joyce and Mike speak with Georgia Hurst as part of Lynch Syndrome Awareness Week.

Georgia Hurst is a patient advocate for those with Lynch syndrome. She is the founder of the website and blog: ihavelynchsyndrome.com. She frequently writes about the emotional aspects of having Lynch syndrome, and writes for various websites and journals in order to create awareness amongst the global medical community about this hereditary cancer syndrome. Georgia is a wife and mother, and loves espresso, books, and being bossed around by her adorable dog named Sid.

What is Lynch syndrome? We will learn more from Georgia, or you can read about it on her website, or in this article from www.curetoday.com

Georgia noticed that there were several people in her family who had cancer at early ages, and several with the same cancer. This can indicate that there is something genetic predisposing family members to cancer. She delved deeper, got to a diagnosis, and kept asking questions, finding out how to protect herself and others in her family from the worst consequences of this condition.

Hear her remarkable story, the path she followed in doing her own research, and the partnerships she has developed with medical professionals to help her make progress for herself and others.

    What is Post-Traumatic Relationship Syndrome?

    in Romance

If you’ve gone through a distructive relationship, you may be struggling with upsetting emotions, frightening memories, or a sense of constant danger. Or you may feel numb, disconnected, and unable to trust other people. When bad relationships happen, it can take a while to get over the pain and feel safe again. Whether the traumatic relationship happened years ago or yesterday, you can heal and move on.

It’s not the objective facts that determine whether a relationship is traumatic, but your subjective emotional experience of the relationship. The more frightened and helpless you feel to move on , the more likely you are to be traumatized.

Dr. Mario Castellanos: Understanding The Differences in your Chronic Pelvic Pain

    in Health

Join our original "Pelvic Messenger" Elisabeth Oas, as she interviews Dr. Mario Castellano of Phoenix Arizona. He is here to discuss some of the underlying causes of the biggest diagnoses chronic pelvic pain patients deal with. While many of us, have IC, Endo, Pudendal Neuralgia and more...we also often might have other diagnoses going on we are unaware of, that are either mimicking these bigger players or making them worse. In either case treating these other diagnoses is important to feeling better!! I think we can all agree that being able to recognize the subtle differences in our pelvic pain can be hard, especially when everything is hurting at once. Tune into this show to help yourself with gaining the insight on how to do this!!

Dr. Castellanos expertise includes pudendal neuralgia, pelvic congestion syndrome, pelvic floor muscle spasms, interstitial cystitis, and pain related to vaginal mesh procedures. He has special skills in pudendal nerve decompression surgery, ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks, and Botox trigger point injections. He is also a fellowship trained minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon for the treatment of complex pelvic pathology and pelvic pain.

He has presented at national congregations and published on various topics related to chronic pelvic pain. He is an active member of the AAGL and the International Pelvic Pain Society. It was his research and work presented at the 2014 IPPS annual conference, that inspired us to have him on the show! Discussing these very complicated and critical topics can make a world of difference for the overall well being for the patient living with pelvic pain.

The G-Spot with Meka Rae-The Side Piece Syndrome

    in Relationships

    Hi Bedroom Playmates

Are you in a relationship (lesbian or heterosexual) and you find yourself with a side piece? What led to this circumstance? Were you not happy in the bedroom? Is your husband/wife on the road a lot? Do you feel that you don't have enough sex? What happen if you fall in love with your side piece? Do you leave your partner to be with that individual? Is it more acceptable for a man to have a "side-piece" than it is for a woman? Why or why not? I've heard the saying that "I have to have a lover on the side to stay happy."

On the flip side...are you the side piece to a man or woman in a relationship? If so, is this your preference? If it is...why don't you want to be in a committed relationship with someone who is not attached? What attracts us to those that are taken? Do we feel we missed out on something? Or is it the thrill of the moment?

This is going to be an excellent discussion! I can't wait to hear your thoughts.
