The movie was nominated for 5 Academy Awards and won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay; it also won over 350 awards from critics.  In 2011 Mr. Pickett published Vertical which continues the story of Miles and Jack as they embark on a roadtrip with Miles' mom, her nurse, and her dog through wine country and middle America. in Politics Conservative

This show is dedicated to: Medal of Honor awardee First Lieutenant Alonzo H. Cushing was killed in action on July 3, 1863 -- at age 22 -- during the battle’s third and final day, in the face of Pickett’s Charge, a futile, deadly Confederate advance that threatened to turn the tide of the war.

Special Guest: Reverend Keion Henderson of The Lighthouse Church has the fastest growing congregation in

The Lighthouse church isn’t your grandma’s church. In fact, Pastor Keion Henderson is only 32
years old and already becoming a rising star in the new way church is perceived- online! Pastor
Henderson has the fastest growing congregation in Texas and he is quickly growing his online
    audience.
“I wanted to do something different. I wanted to have a church that welcomed all and could
reach all. So, I went online. Don’t get me wrong, I love to have people in church every day but
that isn’t always possible. People work, people travel, some people aren’t mobile – my online
mission helps connect everyone to our church and God,”

Author Charles McNair compares Civil War to today's action in Missouri

    in Lifestyle

Author Charles McNair has written Pickett's Charge,  - essentially summarizing the history of the South through the blurry perspective of one old man, a character developed as the oldest living Confederate veteran.  This man is hell-bent on heading north to kill the oldest living Yankee.  But in the end, the book is really about reconciliation, redemption and forgiveness.

And especially now - 150 years after the war - this book helps demonstrate how much America has really changed and what it means to be America.
