SHOW NOTES: Wealth is relative. If a person has more resources (or appears to have more resources) than other peers, it tends to make them feel wealthy. If a person has less resources (or appears to have less resources) than peers, they feel poor.
- “On average, 90 percent of lottery winners go through their winnings in five years or less.” (http://bucks.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/12/03/a-financial-plan-for-misbehaving-lottery-winners/?_php=true&_&_r=0)
How does someone receive tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of dollars and end up broke within five years? It is a very simple answer, they spent the money.
So, taking even an extremely rare occurrence where someone overnight “gets rich” (by winning the lottery) it is harder to stay rich than it was to get rich. Join in with this show as we discuss why we (humans) make it so hard for ourselves to enjoy resources long term and instead give them away in the short term. Desires for attention, affection, admiration and power are the keys to your ability to either beat the odds (and have a lifetime of economic comfort) or end up broke (with memories of fleeting times in the past when there was an opportunity to stay rich). They say it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. Maybe. I do not agree that it is better to have been “rich” and lost it all than to have never been “rich” at all. It is very difficult to “go back” to economic instability and lack of opportunity after experiencing a lifestyle of economic opportunity.
So, let’s make sure that you have a plan to go forward financially and never go back!

SHOW NOTES: What is a Stereotype?"Stereotypes are widely held cultural beliefs that are resistant to change."
(Block, Koch, Liberman, Merriweather, & Roberson, 2011)
What is Stereotype Threat?
“The phenomenon known as “stereotype threat.” Members of groups believed to be academically inferior — African-American and Latino students enrolled in college, or female students in math and science courses — score much lower on tests when reminded beforehand of their race or gender. […] found that black students performed comparably with white students when told that the test they were taking was “a laboratory problem-solving task.” Black students scored much lower, however, when they were instructed that the test was meant to measure their intellectual ability. In effect, the prospect of social evaluation suppressed these students’ intelligence.”
Minorities aren’t the only ones vulnerable to stereotype threat. We all are. A group of people notably confident about their mathematical abilities — white male math and engineering majors who received high scores on the math portion of the SAT — did worse on a math test when told that the experiment was intended to investigate “why Asians appear to outperform other students on tests of math ability.” (PAUL, 2012)

Current global political crises all have one thing in common: border problems. Whether it's the United States/Mexican border (or, as Nancy Pelosi calls it, the unnatural community divider), the Russia/Ukraine border, or the Israeli borders (or, if you're a Palestinian sympathizer, the fact that Israel exists to have borders at all).
At 8:35 we will be talking with former Congressman Todd Akin about media bias, establishment mentality, and the dangerous line we walk when we allow elected officials to be crucified for "offensive statements."

SHOW NOTES: This HELP! Situation™ series addresses challenges, obstacles and problems (real or perceived) that are preventing a person from surpassing their goals! What is holding you back from surpassing your goals? In this episode we examine the issue, "I Keep Getting Fired From Jobs! What Should I Do?”
Why are you fired?
Be honest. No excuses and/ or rationalizations. I have been fired (several decades ago when I was working minimum wage jobs in food service and retail). I was fired due to my soft skills (attitude). I was always asking questions and trying to "improve" things. My job was to carry out the established processes and procedures and not to try to reengineer and change those established parameters. My desires to enhance and modify practices are fantastic assets as a business consultant. They were not the right skills for those jobs. I either needed to change my skills or change my job ( or I would keep getting fired).
Hard Skills - The content of the job itself.
Soft Skills - The skills that are required to be able to deliver the job requirements (time management, organization, attitude, self discipline, etc.).
What do you want?
Decide how you want to work (indoor, outdoor, day shift, night shift, on a computer, not on a computer, alone, with lots of other people, etc.). You may be unemployable (and need to be a contractor or entrepreneur).
Only you will be able to make the best decision for yourself.
