Gerald's Story: Nursing home and drug abuse of an elderly man

    in Family

Patrice Gilgan joins us this evening to expose the abuse and drugging of her father at the hands of doctors and nursing home workers in two different facilities in Orange County, California.  The first instance of abuse both physical and with drugs occured at Irvine Cottage Board and Care where Gerald had been sent to recover from brain surgery.  Gerald was drugged within 24 hours of admittance to the home with massive doses of Haldol, Seroqel and overdosed on morphine.  There was no prescription for the morphine.  Cottage Board and Care is operated by St Joseph Hospice, a Catholic enterprise.

At a second facility, Villa Valencia Skilled Nursing, (a St Michael Hospice and another Catholic owned  enterprise), Gerald was given 7 different drugs.  None of these drugs were to be used on brain injured or individuals suffering from dementia.  When Gerald was finally freed from this facility and hospitalized again, it took more than two weeks for him to respond due to the massive drug overload in his system.

Videos of Gerald, and of some of the abuse he endured are available on the you tube channel;  Ireland Dallas

Gerald Gilgan was a retired New York City Fire Fighter.  This man did not deserve this callous treatment.  No one does.  Yet it happens to the elderly every day here in the US.

America's elderly: drugging, shock treatments and other abuses in the system

    in Family

Join us as Bruce Wiseman,  U.S. President of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights, talks with us this evening about the hidden abuse of America's elderly as they fall prey to a system used to exploit, experiment and abuse them.  Drugging with psychotropic drugs, chemical restraints and electroshock await those who do not submit voluntarily to forced isolation, and the theft of their assets.  The elderly are also used for experimentation with vaccines, drugs and untested therapies.  This could happen to your mom, your dad or ......you.

    Bruce Wiseman

Bruce Wiseman is the U.S. President of the Citizens Commission on Human Rights. He has testified before bodies of both houses of the United States Congress, as well as state legislative and judicial bodies in Colorado, Arkansas, New Jersey, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Florida.  He has also testified before the Food and Drug Administration; the President's Commission on Mental Health; the President's Commission to Reform Special Education; and the National Institute of Mental Health’s Consensus Conference on ADHD. He has made more than 800 radio and television appearances including CNN, Fox National News, NBC's Dateline and The Montel Williams show, and has been quoted in print media across the country, including The New York Times. He has a Master’s Degree, Summa Cum Laude, in American History from the California State University at San Jose, and is the former Chairman of the Department of History of John F. What is Primary Medical Care for the Homebound Elderly?

    in Business

On October 22, at Noon, my guest will be Dr. Jomarie Zeleznik.  Dr. Zeleznik is Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. From 1995 until 2004 she trained geriatric fellows, internal medicine and family medicine residents, and medical students at Montefiore Medical Center. She is published in the geriatric and palliative care literature on subjects including pressure ulcers, communication between doctors and health care proxies and aging physiology. Dr. Zeleznik established Comprehensive Geriatric Care in 2004 as an office-based solo medical practice with home visits to for those patients who because they became homebound could no longer travel for primary medical care in the office. Informed by the experience of being one of the many hands-on caregivers for her own home-bound mother who died at home of complications of Parkinson's disease and the challenges of obtaining care in the home, Dr. Zeleznik remade Comprehensive Geriatric Care as direct primary care practice which provides accessible and individualized primary and palliative care to those elderly who cannot leave their homes.  Dr. Zeleznik is a co-founder of The CareGivers’ Project, a not for profit which is an on and off-line organization where caregivers for elderly can express and reflect about the complexities of being a caregiver through written and visual material and get-togethers.

Caring For Elderly Parents: Will Your Spouse Help Take Care of Yours?

    in Women

Many cultures have a specific method for choosing which child will take care of parents when they become old and feeble. It may be the first born son, the youngest daughter, etc. But Americans have no such cultural practice and that means that elders are at the mercy of whichever child decides to take care of them. Is your spouse willing to help care for your parent? Would you care for your inlaws? Or would you put them in a senior citizen homeHow do you discuss the possibilities with your spouse?

Slow Motion: Stealing From The Elderly ...

    in Real Estate

In this podcast we shall make people aware of how some people steal from senior citizens. Many of them do it in slow motion. Some of the ways they steal from people is even high profile. Example: The Reverse Mortgage is a form of "weaponized banking".  Seniors and many times their children think that getting money with no obligation to pay it back is a good deal, however they never factor in that they are getting a "loan" and one day someone will have to pay that loan back or the family home is gone forever.

Another way people steal from the elderly is "House Jacking".  Many times younger people (gang stalkers)  "target individuals" who to them are senior citizens. They see has helpless or easy prey.  These predators primarily seek to rob their elderly victims (in slow motion) of rent revenue, equity in their homes, or have the abused senior sign the entire house over to them.

We shall make U aware of how to protect yourself and your loved ones who are the elderly.
