Author/Speaker Elaine Marie Cooper is a self-described history geek. Her bookshelves are filled with volumes about the American Revolution, an era she became fascinated with when growing up in Massachusetts.
Her passions are her family, her faith in Christ and writing—usually about the American Revolution, a frequent subject of her novels.
Her most recent publication is a definite change in her usual topic. Bethany’s Calendar is a non-fiction memoir of her daughter who died of a brain tumor in 2003. This is the book she never wanted to write, yet felt an inner prompting to pen her daughter’s journey through terminal cancer. It has already touched many lives and her prayer is that it will help each reader, whether a caregiver, patient or friend of a patient. Or just anyone who faces an unimaginable struggle in their life.
Elaine is also a contributing writer to Fighting Fear, Winning the War at Home by Edie Melson, and I Choose You, a romance Anthology. Her freelance work has appeared in both newspapers and magazines, and she blogs regularly at http://ColonialQuills.blogspot.com.

"Courage is fire, and bullying is smoke," stated former British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli. Adult bullying is a rising concern in the real world and online. Adults are as malicious as bad kids on the playground, but no one is supervising their activity or protecting their targets. And their victims are other adults who are not immune to the trauma of bullying. When one uses superior strength or influence to intimidate others, that’s classic bullying. Emotional abuse is characterized by subjecting another to behavior that may result in psychological trauma, like anxiety, chronic depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder. In one Seinfeld episode, George and Jerry recall their tyrannical gym teacher who used to give boys wedgies and encourage them to beat each other up. Girls don’t do anything like that, do they? Jerry asks Elaine. Oh no, Elaine replies. We just tease each other until one of us develops an eating disorder. The worst part of being bullied or abused in a relationship, is that often you don’t even realize it’s happening. Manipulative people twist your thoughts, actions, wants, and desires into something that better suits how they see the world. Bullies don’t want cooperation, they want control. Emotional bullying is often subtle and found in adult relationships and in the workplace. An emotional bully might use sarcasm, threaten, belittle, or humiliate. Join me and Life Coach Jenn A Nocera as we discuss the specific signs of bullying and emotional abuse. After the show check After Hours at Jersey Coastal Live for more info.

Author Elaine Calloway joins me this week to talk about her books. We'll focus on her latest: No Grits No Glory the first in her Southern Ghosts series and we'll also talk about her Elemental Clan series.
From No Grits No Glory:
Brianna fled down South to Savannah to escape the voices of the dead. Just when she thought she’d left all paranormal things behind, she discovers her house is haunted—by a family of Southern ghosts. These persistent beings not only hide her white shoes after Labor Day, but they wreak havoc on her life to convince her to help them bring their killer to justice. Steven put Savannah in his rearview mirror years ago to follow his passion for music. When his band splits up and he can’t reach his little sister for weeks, he races home—only to learn his whole family died in a mysterious house fire. The house Brianna now lives in. Together, Brianna and Steven learn who murdered Steven’s family and become caught in a web of intrigue that will threaten their careers, their homes--but especially their lives.
