The Un-Game: Four-Play to Business as UNusual with Ingrid Martine

    in Business

The Un-Game: Four-Play to Business as UNusual with Ingrid Martine

“The Un-Game” is based on the premise that we have more to unlearn than learn in order to meet current work and life challenges. "The Un-Game" is both a captivating novel and an inspirational invitation for organizational leaders to engage in a cutting-edge paradigm shift about how 21st century organizations do business. While speaking specifically to managers and other leaders, it also has universal appeal—we are, after all, managers of our own lives.

Before immigrating to the United States at age eleven, Ingrid Martine lived in Germany. Her fascination with human behavior began as an eight year old who read--under bed covers by flashlight and against strict maternal instructions--mythological stories and Tolstoy's Anna Karenina.

While working as a teacher with inner-city at-risk youth who seemed to hate to learn, Ingrid started experimenting with and developing innovative educational models. Certain that a disdain for learning is unnatural, she submits that learning environments must help people--adults in corporate America included--get out of their own way. Ingrid Martine's ability to create rich learning environments was facilitated as much by non-traditional learning experiences like waitressing, horse and dog training, all of which required her to be "client-centered," as by her graduate work in psychology and experiential education design.

The Un-Game is a novel whose characters work in such a rich learning environment. Her intention is to engage the reader in a learning process that supports exceptional effectiveness at work and transfers to life beyond work.

Hard Starboard Radio: Has It Really Been Eight Years?

    in Politics Conservative

Yes, it really has - although y'all can limit the bronze gifts to old Olympic medals that nobody wants anymore - and I'll still prefer my Seahawks Super Bowl ring; What price are we prepared to pay to keep ISIS in check?  Not even rejected eighth anniversary gifts; Barack Obama’s Memorial Day speech at Arlington National Cemetery contained the usual disturbing message to which we ought to have grown accustomed by now; IImperialism may have fallen out of fashion, but history shows that the only other option is the kind of chaos we see today; Why national-security Republicans lost the Patriot Act debate; On climate, science and politics were never in the same zip code; and from ISIS at Ramadi to riots at home, nothing is going right - and that's exactly what we voted for.  Twice.

"Marriage Over Friendship" - COCKTAIL CONVERSATIONS on KLJN 107.7

    in Relationships

Its Wedding season and more choices are too be made.  Would you cut off your friend of almost 20 years to marry your fiance of 2 yrs who is jealous and controlling?

Lets look at this Scenario #  - 52 Marriage Over Friendship.

Sometimes friendships don’t last. Derek and Kelly have been friends for over seventeen years and during those times they had a few moments between them, but nothing too serious. Derek was more of a mentor for Kelly as she moved up the professional ladder. Derek gave her the blueprint and she followed it and her career took off.

When Kelly started dating her soon to be insecure, controlling husband, Ralph, things changed between Kelly and Derek. One day Derek left a message from Kelly’s phone joking with her, something they both did to each other, and Ralph got the message and called Derek up going off without Derek getting in a word. But at times, Derek felt like he was going to have to step to Ralph and kick his ass, but he was more of a professional to behave like that.

The last straw to Derek and Kelly’s friendship ending was the fact that she got married. Derek did not get a personal invitation. Kelly sent the invitation to Derek’s mother who lives in another state. Derek felt like he deserved better and he did not attend the wedding and has not spoken to Kelly since then, which was over eight years ago. Is Derek wrong for feeling bitter?

Let's discuss this situation right now on COCKTAIL CONVERSATIONS on KLJN 107.7.
