    Let's Talk Too! Author Yani

    in Books

    I'm your host

    Author Sharnel

     Guest

    Author Yani,

She wrote her first novel when she was fifteen years old while attending University City High-School. What started out as just a short story to help her cope with the accidental and devastating murder of a friend, turned into a full length, 893 handwritten paged novel after being encouraged to continue writing more by her peers. Years later, A Thug’s Redemption along with its two sequels, became Amazon Best Sellers and featured in Yo! Raps Magazine. Yani had previously been known for her writing through her edgy poetry, which granted her an invitation to the Tri-State’s number 1 Hip-Hop and R&B radio station, Power 99FM, to recite her popular poem “Why Tyrone Can’t Read” in 2001. Since then, Yani has attended open mic nights, reciting her poetry throughout Philadelphia. Yani has been featured on numerous blogs and has made guest appearances on various blog-talk radio shows. She was also a featured author at the 2013 National Black Book Festival in Houston, Texas. Yani still resides in Philadelphia with her three children and is working on her sixth novel.

    Super Duper Bowl L

    in Football

After all of the hype and hoopla dies down in Cali, Jay and Dre are here to get into the meat and potatoes of the actual Big Game.  Peyton Manning's HGH chicken parm, Cam Newton's racial politics and polarizing personality, Peyton's possible last game, Josh Norman and Carolina's edgy and possibly dirty defense--put all the storylines aside.  It comes down to the AFC champion Broncos versus the favored NFC champion Panthers.  Though Dre has already clinched the picks title, the boys will break down the 50th annual Super Bowl and cut through the BS In Much Less Detail to decide: Denver or Carolina...WHO YA GOT???

Wisdom Through A Course In Miracles

    in Spirituality

My journey led me to many paths culminating in my studying A Course In Miracles.  With my previous understanding from other paths......be they religious, meditative or academic........I realized ACIM teaches all these 'wisdoms' and more.......it is NOT what many think - another religion or delicacy on the spiritual buffet - though it CAN be that for you if that is what you want.  But it can also take you to the highest pinnacle of understanding that shows us in a very profound way how EVERYTHING can be used to lead us there or to lead us astray.........and it all depends on our choice!

The Empire Strikes Black: Minneapolis NAACP branch needs to be shutdown

    in News

Wednesday's program marks the return of Our Black News publisher Don Allen from his one-month assignment in New York and Los Angeles. Allen collected data on several different local community spokespersons while working on his academic endevors.

Earlier this week, Minneapolis NAACP branch president allegedly called community activist and radio show host Aflred Flowers a coward; then she went on to call Mr Flower's mother, a well-respected local pastor a "bitch." Join the team of Ron and Don as we unpack what this means for the Minneapolis NAACP, it's membership and the local community.

Also, we will again talk about the money unaccounted for in the case of Jamar Clark and why Black Lives Matter Minneapolis, nor the Minneapolis NAACP have said a word. Tune in at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.
