This week Eno and Big Al welcome a very special guest. Joining us is Eastern Michigan University head football coach Chris Creighton.
Coach Creighton took over the EMU program this past December, and has plenty to say about preparing for first season running the EMU program. Coach talks recruiting, working in the shadow of the University of Michigan, previews the upcoming scheduled, give a roster overveiw and will get you fired up for the coming season of Eages football.
In the second half of the show Greg and Al talk Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons. topics covered include the ongoing issues with Tigers closer Joe Nathan, the ridiculousness of the All-Star Game's TV coverage, the unveiling of plans for the new Red Wings area and surrounding area and the uncertain status of Pistons' free agent big man Greg Monroe.
There's all that and more, including "Whose Birthday Is It?" and our "Jerk of the Week!"
Long-time Detroit sports bloggers and podcasters, Greg Eno (aka the man who knows a lot of things about a lot of things), and Big Al Beaton are The Knee Jerks! Eno and Big Al's podcast is released every Monday on the Sports Geeks Radio Network!
While EMU's win-loss total wasn't the worst in the MAc in 2013, it's hard to find a team that had a worse experience. On the field, the team struggled, mightily. Their coach was fired after he was caught on tape verbally abusing the players, and in a terrible tragedy one fo their own was murdered midway through the season.
But 2014 brings new beginnings, and hopefully healed wounds for the Eagles. Chris Creighton, formerly of Drake, was brought in to take over the program and by all accounts has brought a wave of fresh energy into the program. Players are fired up. The atmosphere around the team is positive, and with the addition of "The Factory" and a former Penn state quarterback have the fanbase excited for 2014. Will the Eagles take a giant step forward this fall, or will it be a slow process? We brought on Jeremy Rosenberg from Eagle Totem to preview EMU's 2014 season.
A show that talks all Detroit sports, including the Tigers, the Lions, the Red Wings, the Pistons, the Michigan State Spartans, the Michigan Wolverines, and more.
Recap of Week 7 between the Lions and the Saints at Ford Field.
The Red Wings sweep the Maple Leafs in a home-and-home series over the weekend after losing in a shootout to the Boston Bruins.
A (TRUE) rumor is out that the Ilitch family is selling the Wings, Tigers, and Little Caesars and making "retirement plans".
Mickey York of FOX Sports Detroit bashes Red Wings center Gustav Nyquist and should be fired immediately for it.
The Pistons wrap up their preseason on a high note with a win in Atlanta.
And in the college football world in the mitten, the Spartans crush the Hoosiers 56-17 in Bloomington, Indiana, the Wolverines have the bye week, and other scores:
Ball State Cardinals: 32, Central Michigan Chippewas: 29
Massachusetts: 36, Eastern Michigan Eagles: 14
Western Michigan Broncos: 26, Bowling Green Falcons: 14
Tigers President/General Manager Dave Dombrowski's press conference and unreasonable questions.
Show description: A show that talks all Detroit sports, including the Tigers, the Lions, the Red Wings, the Pistons, the Michigan State Spartans, the Michigan Wolverines, the Central Michigan Chippewas, the Western Michigan Broncos, the Eastern Michigan Eagles, and more.
This week: Recaping the Lions' 17-3 win over the Vikings in Minnesota and some Ryan Broyles tweets, the Spartans' 45-31 win over the Purdue Boilermakers on the road, the Wolverines' 18-13 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions in Ann Arbor, other college football scores in the state of Michigan, the Red Wings dealing with serious officiating issues after losing 3-2 to the Anaheim Ducks at Joe Louis Arena, the Pistons almost lose Kentavious Caldwell-Pope the previous Sunday in D.C. in a 91-89 loss to the Washington Wizards in preseason action, and Tigers manager Brad Ausmus defending a terrible bullpen from their previous 2014 season after getting swept in the American League Division Series by the Baltimore Orioles and then Dave Dombrowski, the team's president and general manager, holding a very important press conference earlier today (Tuesday 10/14/14).
Adam, Cari and Dan are back after Penn State's neutral site win against the Syracuse Orange! The three BSDers break down the game from the press box, the stands, and TV screen, talk about the performances of Christian Hackenberg, Allen Robinson, and the rest of the Nittany Lions, and look ahead to this coming week's home opener against the Eastern Michigan Eagles.
