Thirteen days of the NBA season is in the books and the Eastern Conference may look a bit different than what some fans expected to this point. The Toronto Raptors are the No. 1 seed, while the Milwaukee Bucks are rounding things out as the No. 8. Of course it has only been two weeks to this point, but what trends do we see continuing, and which teams should be able to turn things around? Do the Cleveland Cavaliers have something to worry about after a slow start?
All-Star weekend has concluded in the NBA, and roughly 30 games remain for each team. In the Eastern Conference, the Atlanta Hawks appear to be the dominant team. Around the NBA, many consider the Hawks to be the San Antonio Spurs of the East. Should they be this highly regarded considering they are 6.5 games ahead of 2nd place Toronto but haven't done anything in the postseason recently?
After the top-six teams, the level of play appears to drop off significantly. Outside of those six teams (Atlanta, Toronto, Chicago, Washington, Cleveland and Milwaukee), should teams consider tanking? Can any of the teams outside of Atlanta make a serious push at whichever team comes out of the Western Conference?
The 2014-15 NBA season got under way last night with one team from the Eastern Conference in action. The Orlando Magic may not be a factor come playoff time this season, but are they set up to make a run in a couple years? What other teams in the East may not be serious contenders today, but could be before the 2016 free for all? While Chicago and Cleveland are the clear favorites, can any team come up from behind and shock the world?
Tonight kicks off the 2014-15 NBA season, so we'll go over each of the games and break down all teams involved going forward. In the Eastern Conference, the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers are the clear-cut favorites to represent the conference in the NBA Finals. But, with teams on the rise, such as Washington, Toronto, Charlotte and Atlanta, can any of those younger teams beat out the favorites? Also, does anybody have a shot at beating out Philadelphia for the best possible chance at winning the lottery?

That is a question the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat have to be asking themselves with seven days left in the regular season.
Chances are, the second place team will avoid the Brooklyn Nets or the Chicago Bulls in the second round, because the Toronto Raptors currently sit third in the Eastern Conference and should be able to win the remainder of their games -- locking themselves into the 3 seed.
That would mean Chicago and Brooklyn would play in the 4 vs. 5 matchup, with the winner advancing to face the No. 1 seed. For Miami, that doesn't look so enticing.
The Heat were swept 4-0 in their season series with the Nets, and they went 2-2 against the Bulls. So while LeBron and James and Co. do not fear either of those two teams, they are aware of the reality that both of them play Miami tough.
By finishing second, the Heat would have a first-round matchup with the Bobcats or Wizards, then would advance to play one of those two teams, or the Toronto Raptors. And while the Raptors are a tough team, they have nothing remotely resembling the playoff pedigree of Brooklyn and Chicago.

As expected, Kevin Love will be joining forces with LeBron James in Cleveland this upcoming season. He's reportedly supposed to opt-out of his contract at the end of this upcoming season to sign a deal of five-years, $120 million+. With six seasons of what should be a core in Cleveland consisting of James, Kyrie Irving and Love, how many titles will they win? In 2014-15, should the Cavaliers be favored to win the Eastern Conference? If not Cleveland, is Chicago essentially a shoo-in?
