Julian Walker and Tyra B MRTR

    in Pop Culture

    Celebrating Over 150 Episodes!

Hosts: Jamel, Derrick Dwayne and Flash Gotti

#MyRealTalkRadio interviews Blackbird Star: Julian Walker and Singer/Songwriter: Tyra B.

Rookie actor Julian Walker is the breakout star in the poignant new film, "Blackbird." The coming-of-age drama, based on the 1986 novel by Larry Duplechan, tells the story of Randy Rousseau, a saintly choirboy in small-town America struggling to reconcile his sexuality and conflicting religious beliefs.

Born and raised in Petersburg, VA, Tyra knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. She started singing and dancing at talent shows in elementary school, and spent much of her free time practicing her craft. Her hard work paid off when, in 2004, at yet another one of these talent shows, a DJ from nearby Richmond was in the audience and decided to put her single, "Country Boy," on his radio show. Before too long she was a local celebrity, helped also by the success of her second single, "Still in Love," which led to an opening spot on Destiny's Child summer 2005 tour. Soon, she signed to Warner Bros., with plans made for her debut album, Introducing Tyra (which included the song "Get No Ooh Wee"), to be released. It wasn't until 2008, however, after yet another successful single, "Giving Me a Rush," hit the airwaves and television, that the singer, who was now calling herself Tyra B, issued her true debut, Past Due.

An Evening With Dwayne Culpepper - Love From A Christian Brother's Perspective

    in Religion

Dwayne Culpepper aka Tha Corinth is the owner of CentreStone Media Group. The oldest of six raised by a single parent, he. gave his life to Christ at the age of 29. He has always did music but was lead to Jesusdue to a relationship gone bad. A single man with no kids, Dwayne was called to ministry to preach about love, something he never experienced. Having pushed himself into music, Dwayne learned how to play all instruments including drums, guitar, piano etc. He dedicated his life to telling men about love through music. So he started studying the word, and all of the basics that comes with the understanding of love and a woman's emotions. Dwayne title single Like Him,off his current CD the Storm is over tells the story of loving a woman at a relationship's worst. Dwayne felt he was never called to ministry because music gave him a voice in which he himself learned what looks like in two failed relationships. With being raised on welfare, sleeping in abandoned houses, watching his mom drive a car in zero below weather with no windows in it just to raise six kids and get off welfare, showed Dwayne how women are pushed into leadership in their household. Dwayne uses the phrase how he built for this to prove a point. Dwayne also knows that God called him to do this due to himself and his mother almost lost their lives in a car accident when he was six years old, where Dwayne went through the windshield of the car his grandmother was driving. Dwayne calls the scar in his head his Jesus scar to life. " Telling men how God wants us to value the woman in our life through his mistakes and tragedies is something he speaks about and performs in his music. With the launch of CMG the new man of God plans to set platforms for platforms to bring men into understanding their feelings but seeing a woman's emotions at the same time.
