Unfortunately I have to discuss the headline and the sensation that is Mo'Ne Davis and the end of her teams run in the little league World Series. There's a big rematch today between Chicago's little league team vs. the powerhouse Las Vegas Nevada team that warrants discussion as well as Team USA and a little Pre-season football as well on the all new "Jay Byrd Show."
GODISHEUS is a powerhouse Funk Rock band wildly popular in the D.C. indie music scene. Formed by veteran D.C. hip-hop icon Head-Roc and an all-star lineup of some of the heaviest hitters on the go-go scene— Dwayne ‘Super Bad III’ Lee on guitar (Fayces U Know, Heaven Sent, MVP, Familiar Faces, 3LG), Byron “BJ” Jackson (Rare Essence, MeShell Ndegeocello), and Kenny “Kwick” Gross on drums (Chuck Brown, Lissen Band, Marcus Johnson Project), GODISHEUS is hard at work to define a new live sound rooted in the Funk and Rock.
Head-Roc, who has taken on the stage name Om V for this project, is no stranger to working with a live band. During the mid ’90s, he and Super Bad III (lead guitar) were part of Three Levels of Genius (3LG), a live hip-hop band that proved influential in the region. Om V is quick to point out that GODISHEUS is not
a typical hip-hop band, but rather “the 21st century return of substantive Funk music for the people.”
As we all know, Funk beget Go-Go and Hip-Hop in ways dear to the District. Don’t get it twisted: GODISHEUS is no cover band doing their best Parliament rendition; they are a rare and raw D.C. Funk Rock sound with a message of empowerment for the people delivered by one of D.C.’s MC champions. Over tight arrangements that are equal parts funk, rock and soul, Om V brings the lyrical heat, speaking truth to power with every line, something that has earned him the respect of hip-hop heads, punk rockers, indie rockers, and progressive audiences all over. Powered by Kwick’s impeccable drumming, Super Bad III’s six-string magic, and the low end work of BJ on bass, the GODISHEUS International Funk Train is set to dazzle audiences worldwide!

CALL-IN TONIGHT FOR A PANEL DISCUSSION AND VOICE YOUR OPINION ON FERGUSON, MO, Militarization of Police, RICK PERRY AND HOW MUCH OF THIS MAKES PRESIDENT OBAMA SMILE?
BUT FIRST UP: FERGUSON HAS GROWN TO A MAJOR ISSUE THAT SEEMS TO CROP UP EVERY TWENTY YEARS OR SO.
From the moment Governor Nixon arrived on the scene, many were concerned. Governor Nexon is known for his selectiveness when dealing with constituents, and Ferguson has never been a part of that group.
That being said, this Ferguson incident is a long way from being over. There hasn't been a charge, and if there 'is' a charge, who's gonna pick the jurors? Who will be the jurors in a town where the blacks outnumber the whites to such a extreme that the idea of a "fair" trial is going to be a joke.
Geraldo Rivera on "Outnumbered"
I don't like watching the show, it's too much noise for my tastes. But, I have to admit that watching Rivera and Harris go at each other made it interesting. I'll be playing part of their conversation, you decide who's right.
20 YEARS AGO: L.A. RIOTS, O.J. SIMPSON
Alot was going on in 1994, including the fact that I got married in the month of August:)! Now you probably weren't there for that, but if yolu were watching the television that summer, you got to see a white bronco, driven by "The Juice" chased by L.A. cops, followed by a trial that was as boring as any soap opera ever made for daytime television.
Then the trial was over. The best joke that followed? I can't remember who said it, but it went something like, "Millions of Americans can finally go back to work to see if they still have a job after following the O.J. Simpson trial.
