According to the US census statistics, America lost 10 million of its population from 1931 to 1940. A Russian researcher, Boris Borisov worked on uncovering the death toll during the American Famine and his estimates are that 5 million children died of starvation and 2.5 million adults.
“Few people know about five million American farmers (about a million families) whom banks ousted from them lands because of debts. The US government did not provide them with land, work, social aid, pension – nothing,” the article says.
“Every sixth American farmer was affected by famine. People were forced to leave their homes and go to nowhere without any money and any property. They found themselves in the middle of nowhere enveloped in massive unemployment, famine and gangsterism.”
This is equal to all the Jews that died during the WWII Holocaust, so an event equal in magnitude. Boris Borisov describes the movement of the American population out of the Dust Bowl affected region as a Hunger March

Kirby was a standout high school athelte in the state off Virginia and became the Cavaliers 3 All-Time leading rusher with 3,348 rushing yards with 24 touchdowns while averaging 5.9 yards per carry from 1989-1992.
He was a dual threat running back who had great vision, speed and was a threat to take it the distance every time he touched the football. Kirby had great hands and was a threat for the Cavaliers and quarterback Shawn Moore.
Kirby became a 3rd round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 1993 NFL Draft and burst onto the scene in South Florida with an impressive rookie season. In his first year in Miami, Kirby rushed for 390 rushing yards with touchdowns on the ground. However, he was lethal in the passing game by cathing 75 passes for 874 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns. Kirby became quarterback Dan Marino's main target in third down situations and created mismatches with he great speed.
In his 10 year career, Kirby rushed for 2,875 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also caught 333 passes for 3,222 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. Later in his career, Kirby was utilized in teh kicking game by the San Francisco 49'ers and the Oakland Raiders. Kirby stepped up and had 4 career kick returns for touchdowns (3 kickoff, 1 punt).
Kirby was one of the most complete running backs in the league at that time. He was a very tough running back who played the game with intensity and continued to learn about how to become a better football player. He was a student of the game and understood the mental aspect of the NFL as well as the physcial part.
Today Kirby is a role model to younger atheltes by teaching them the fundamentals in become better atheltes and individuals off the field as well.

Jeremy and Chris are back for another episode as they preview the upcoming UNLV football season. The big issues for UNLV are fixing a defensive front seven that was one of the worst in the country last year, and then on offense they need to find a quarterback and a running back to replace departed starters.
There are plenty of positives for UNLV this year including possibly having the best wide receiver duo with Marcus Sullivan and Devante Davis and a very experienced offensive line.
Signs look good for UNLV to make it back to a bowl game in 2014 but they play 13 games so it will take at least seven wins to go bowling in back-to-back years, and for the first time ever.
