Oh, yes, I HEAR you! "What? Where has she BEEN?!" Hah! We all missed her, didn't we? We'll get those Where's Waldo answers tomorrow - when Joyce Cooling visits us at three p.m. Eastern time! Remember that - for Tuesday, 11/18 - the show STARTS at TWO. We'll have three two-hour shows this week!
Back to our sublime guest: Joyce has been making beautiful music with her guitar for QUITE a while now. Self-taught, her influences and inspirations range from Brazilian to Classical to Rock - and it all pours forth into a pulsating, dynamic and driving deliciousness that is profoundly JAZZ!
#1 radio singles, six Top Ten, multiple music awards - and nominated for several others. "Global Cooling" was her seventh studio album and that was released in 2009.
Well, it HAS been quite an absence on the scene...and the reason for this visit from Joyce (a reunion!) is specific: she has a new HOLIDAY single! Produced by longtime producer, Jay Wagner, "The Holiday's On" is meant to convey a 1940's Swing era vibe with a spin that's infectious :) We'll hear it - and more tracks that are meaningful - and we'll talk to Joyce about a favorite subject: mental health. This fascinating artist has worked with some of the best in the business (Stan Getz, Charlie Byrd, Al Jarreau!) and has made friends all over the world. But the urgency of her life's path has much to do with the focus on keeping us emotionally afloat. That's why Joyce is a national advocate for NAMI: the National Alliance for Mental Health. As we near Thanksgiving and get into gear for the season, nothing is more important that focusing attention on how we're coping. How we can help ourselves and help others live better lives. Please join us for a SPECIAL "Hybrid Jazz!" 11/18/2014.
Join author, blogger, writer and internet radio host Dariaanne for Writestream Tuesday when she welcomes romance, mystery and suspense author Carmen D'Sousa to the program.
As most writers, Carmen has been reading since she could hold a book and writing since she could hold a pen. In college, she’d dreamed of a career in publishing, but friends and family insisted that a business degree was the safe way to go.
After twenty years of climbing her way to the top of the corporate ladder, though, she wanted a change. In 2000, she left behind a fifteen-year job with a guaranteed paycheck where she had to where suits every day and opted for the comfort of her home office and PJs. Twenty-nine months later, her first book, She Belongs to Me, was published.
Carmen characterizes her stories as modern-day fairytales, as they are overflow with romance, mystery, suspense, a hint of paranormal sometimes, and of course, tragedy. After all, what would a fairytale be without a tragic event setting the stage? All of her novels are sensual, but not erotic, gripping but not graphic and will hopefully make you cry, laugh, love, and hope.

Blaize Nolynne took that literally when her dreams came into play after she graduated high school. She took her dreams of being an author to heart where she furthered her studies at the Institute of Children’s Literature, where she graduated at the top. The beginning of her career she was under penname for children’s literature, C. Araya Delvesuvio. Her first book out was ‘Sending a Message to Grandpa’ by August of 2009, which was a story about a young girl who dealt with her grandfather’s death in a very unique way. She admitted that the story was close to home, since she was very close to her Great Grandfather and was quite young when he passed.
By the end of 2012 her sequel, District One Stand By: On the Bleeding Edge of Change, was out as well as a book about terminal cancer. At the age of 24, Blaize reached for different heights in her career that she only thought were dreams in the beginning. She realized that hard work and determination had made her dreams a reality. Since the beginning of her career she has published nine books, in which ALL are now being published by publishing houses.
“District One Stand By:’ series is based upon my hometown, Standish, Maine. ‘The Captain’s Last Year, One Year to Live: Fighting the Flame and Cancer’ is based in Maine as well. There is something special about Maine that brings out my inspiration to write.” She admitted.
Proceeds of her book : ‘The Captain's Last Year: One Year to Live, Fighting the Flame and Cancer ‘ she is donating not just to cancer research, but to also help a local Maine Fire Chief, Jeff Douglass of Baldwin, Maine who is struggling with terminal cancer. She is putting part of the proceeds for his treatments.
