    Trauma-Sensitive Yoga in Therapy with David Emerson

    Today @ 1pm (CST) my special guest is David Emerson, E-RYT, Founder and Director of Yoga Services for the Trauma Center at the Justice Resource Institute in Brookline Massachusetts, where he coined the term “trauma-sensitive yoga” and author of the book “Trauma-Sensitive Yoga in Therapy”. He is the co-author of “Overcoming Trauma through Yoga”.


    Trauma exposure is ubiquitous in our society. Over half the general population report having had exposure to at least one traumatic event over their lifetime, with 5% of men and 10.4% of women developing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).


    PTSD has a debilitating negative impact on the overall quality of life of the individual. Seventy-four percent of the individuals diagnosed with PTSD are symptomatic for more than six months and may experience symptoms for years.

    It’s my favorite for several reasons, but I thought I’d put an interesting spin on the story from the standpoint of HYPNOTIC TRANCE. I, personally, believe it is a example of therapeutic HYPNOTIC intervention of EPIC PROPORTION and if you create a similar model of this in your life you could easily be a happy, healthier person from now on.
