Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN) - 1038

    in Self Help

Tonight's special guest is Shaunda Gilleland from Collinsville, Oklahoma, a child abuse survivor and single mother who shares she knows she's not yet worked enough on herself. Shaunda's mom was a drug addict and alcoholic who worked nights as a nurse and would leave her two kids in the evenings with her boyfriend. Shaunda was beaten and molested many times by the man, and he threatened to kill her if she ever told. But her bruises were noticed in daycare and she became a foster care child. Eventually she was successfully adopted, but the trauma from her youth dramatically effected her later. She drank and got involved with a series of "the wrong men," one of who raped her, causing a pregnancy and miscarriage. By 21 she was married to a man who drank all the time. She decided she was going to fix him and after numerous bad incidents the two began attending AA and Al-Anon 12 Step programs, together and apart. He began drinking again and she felt like she wasn't good enough. "I ended up cheating on him," Shaunda shares, "I was lost and weak and the guy showed me attention." The couple was divorced. "To be honest I always thought that people who had vivid emotions about their abuse were weak. They where deciding to be the victim," she admits thinking. "I have gone through life telling my story as if it belonged to someone else. Until today." She goes on, "I'm learning that its ok to have fear, feel dirty, feel unwanted. One of my biggest issues in life today is that I have no emotions." Shaunda is reaching out for help, but knows she's had some successes, too. "I started a business 2 years ago. It makes happy and excited. It's something that can't be taken away from me." And she goes on, "My son is now 6, and in my world he loves me regardless."

    Sunday Morning Coming Down Hard

    in Comedy

You may not know this, but Matt-Man and Jayman are known as the Kris Kristofferson and Johnny Cash of BTR. HA! I'm kidding, actually they're the Don Draper and Roger Sterling of BTR. Okay, maybe not. They're the Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin of BTR. What? Yeah, I guess not. The truth is they're considered the Dylan Thomas and Hunter S Thompson of BTR. Or something.

Point is Matt and Jay are fairly familiar with the drinking culture and know a few things about hangovers and how to deal with them. They've got stories galore about epic partying and epic hangovers. There are several different kinds of hangovers a person can suffer from depending on what they drank and how much. Matt and Jay have experienced them all and are here to help.

Why are we doing this? Because Matt and Jay expect to be nursing some serious hangovers (Matt more than Jay) during the show because this is Matt-Man's birthday weekend. Not just ANY birthday though. It's his 50th birthday!! OH MY GOD HE'S AN OLD MAN! Anyway, there will be serious celebrating happening on Saturday.

PLUS, it's also our Canadian Bureau Chief Jamie Mapleleaf's brithday weekend too! She'll be here to provide some much needed decency to the show.  You'll also hear from the Rev Moneymaker, Guy Ahnurdyck, Drew Peacock, Stubby Stonehenge and more of the IWS Players.

PLUS YOU'RE CALLS! Call us up and wish Matt and Jamie a happy birthday. Or, call in and tell Matt just what you think of him. He's excited to hear from you.

The Ochlocratic Report - Ochlocratic Review

    in Religion

Daniel 1:1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah came Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon unto Jerusalem, and besieged it.

2 And the Lord gave Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, with part of the vessels of the house of God: which he carried into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god.

    3 And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king's seed, and of the princes;

4 Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans.

5 And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king's meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king.

6 Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

  • IF IT WASN'T ABOUT PEACE, IT WASN'T 'BOUT NUTHIN' ... BEFORE YAH!

    in Religion

CONGREGATIONS will be SHOCKED!   To know WHAT is said, and not know WHY it is said, is to MISS THE POINT!  Many say they keep Torah, Shabbats, Feasts!   But since under MEN it has not accomplished what is necessary for continual PEACE in KINGDOM YAH, It was ALL VAIN! MISadministrations after WORKS of mere FLESH!   PAGANISMS of MYSTERY BABYLON!

Isa 52:5  .. YAH says, "Those who RULE over them cause them to QUARREL, and MY NAME is continually INSULTED all day long.

1 Cor 10:1  Moreover, brethren, I would not have you ignorant, how all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;  2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and the sea; 3  And did all eat the same spiritual meat; 4  And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that led them: and that Rock was the Kurti.  5  But the many of them with whom YAH was NOT WELL PLEASED were overthrown in the wilderness. 6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to QUARREL. 8  Let us not commit fornication, as some committed, to fall in one day 320,000!  9 Neither let us provoke the Kurti, as some of them also provoked Him, and were destroyed by serpents. 10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. 11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and are written for our admonition, in preparing for the end of this age, for the Kingdom is to come.

Over the Top Cycling - Robin Farina interviews Ally Stacher

    in Fitness

Ally Stacher is a professional cyclist with Specialized-Lululemon. She's a support rider who does everything she possibly can do to help her team succeed.  Stacher

inherited a love of homemade juicing from her aunt, who bought her a Jack LaLanne juicer during her sophomore year of college. “I was instantly hooked,” she says. “My roommate and I started juicing like crazy.”

It’s a habit that Stacher continues today—even while on the road. “I was traveling with a little Omega juicer,” she says. “It was perfect—it fit into my backpack so I never had to put it in my checked bag. Then the travel got to it and it died on me. It was an incredibly sad day. I now travel with a Breville juicer my teammate bought me for my birthday. It’s pretty easy to lug around. I will say, though, when you go through security with a juicer in your backpack it tends to set off the alarm.”

Stacher claims to be a frugal juicer—“I don’t do too many add-ins…the occasional wheat grass, but that’s about it.”—but admits to being crazy for beets. And for good reason: Research show that drinking beetroot juice can boost a cyclist’s endurance. In one study, volunteers were able to ride about a minute and a half longer compared to when they drank a placebo. Ninety-two seconds may not seem like a lot, but in the world of professional cycling, it’s more than enough to separate the winners from the losers.

Sax Therapy!!! Are you teaching your children to respect authority?

    in Music

I was taught to respect authority as child, Even if the teacher was mean and my aunts and uncles smoked, drank and cussed, I still had to be respectful! What do you see in public today? I don't think we teach our youth the meaning of respect. If we go back to the Olden Days things would be a lot different! Our youth need us to show them the right way to speak and the right way to live! Let's give them a chance at hope by being good examples and teaching them that authority is to be respected even when we fill the authority figure is less than perfect!
