Scripture Text:1 Kings 17: 1-24
Key Verses: 1 Kings 17: 2-6
And the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
Get you from here, and turn you eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Chrerith, that is before Jordan.
And it shall be, that you shall drink of the brook; and I have commanded the raven to feed you there.
So he went and did according to the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelled by the brook Cherith,
that is before Jordan.
And the raven brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening: and he drank of the brook.
"Being in a ship is like being in a jail, with the chance of being drowned" – Samuel Johnson
For hundreds of years, the keeping of order and discipline aboard naval vessels was based around a delicate balance of privileges and punishment. Privileges included the daily distribution of alcoholic beverages such as grog (a mix of rum and water), while punishment included confinement (in prison barges or shackles aboard ship) and/or flogging. Given that life aboard a sailing ship was itself a form of confinement and imprisonment, the traditional means of maintaining discipline proved adequate during the Age of Fighting Sail. But the coming of the 19th century, and with it the revolutionary power of steam engines, completely change the character and demographic of enlisted sailors in the navies worldwide. Aboard the fighting ships of the U.S. Navy there were still rough men who performed primarily physical skills, but added to this were the first of a wave of technicians and mechanics. Nevertheless, these sailors still drank too much, fought and brawled, and periodically deserted their posts. It was for these men, the naval discipline afloat continued to be enforced.
And as the U.S. Navy expanded and contracted between 1850 in the 1930s, discipline afloat and punishment ashore also evolved. The first large U.S. Navy prisons were constructed, including the facility at the Portsmouth Naval Yard in New Hampshire, the largest such facility of its time. The Bible says in Luke 17:26-27: “And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.”
PROPHECY BOOTCAMP: "The Millennial Kingdom: A Rebellious Youth Movement and the End of Satan" from Dr. Tim LaHaye
In spite of the ideal conditions arranged by God to attract a maximum number of people to accept His free gift of salvation by receiving His Son, many will rebel at the end of the 1,000-year kingdom. Revelation 20 indicates that at the end of the 1,000 years, Satan will be loosed from the bottomless pit to go out "to deceive the nations" — that is, to tempt them to rebel against God. The reason God allows this to happen is so that all the unsaved people living on the earth will be forced to make a decision about whether they will receive Christ before God establishes the eternal order. We have already seen that these unsaved will be people under l00 years of age, according to Isaiah 65:20, for only believers will live past their hundredth birthday.
Buddha means “Awakened One”, someone who has awakened and sees things as they really are. According to AboutBuddha.org , a Buddha is a person who is completely free from all faults and mental obstructions. Because he has awakened from the sleep of ignorance and has removed all obstructions from his mind, he knows everything of the past, present, and future, directly and simultaneously. Moreover, Buddha has great compassion which is completely impartial, embracing all living beings without discrimination. Another important fact...The Buddha always drank coffee!!!

With summer upon us, I'd enjoy the opportunity to share with Brian & Sherri show listeners vital information about alcohol abuse, alcoholism, relapse and health. Eight percent of the population has the disease of alcoholism, millions more abuse alcohol and each alcoholic or alcohol abuser affects an average of eight more people. Those families and friends and even the alcoholic can feel hopeless and helpless. But there is hope for all. I know the topic, not just as a journalist/author and researcher, but as an alcoholic who drank two liters of Jack Daniel’s a day, daily, for two years.
My ????? second book, 2013's Every Silver Lining Has a Cloud: Relapse and the Symptoms of Sobriety, explores new research into why nine of ten people in sobriety relapse at least once. The book is a frequent Amazon Bestseller and earned recognition in the Indie Book Awards 2013, the 2013 USA Best Books Awards and the 2013 Global Book Contest. I also report exclusively on alcohol and health issues for a variety of online news sites including google news and Low Carb Mag, as well as a blog covering alcohol issues in the news.
