More About the Incredible Rainere Martin:
Blessed by God with the gift of voice and a grandmother who filled her heart with beautiful songs, Rainere learned at an early age that she could use her voice to lift a soul and bring joy to all who hear her sing. With an early focus on R&B ballads, an appreciation for the art and craft of performers of all eras, and a desire to find her right niche, Rainere's early explorations had her performing in theater music videos, motion pictures,TV, and becoming a sought after entertainer for a variety of social and corporate events, with her appearance on the Nationwide TV show Showtime At The Apollo in New York City earning her a standing ovation.
While all the opportunities fulfilled her desire to delight audiences with song and passionate performance, it was the musical pulse of the 70’s and the era’s great headliner Donna Summer that stuck in her memory. Rainere explains, “It was a realization that I just didn’t sing Donna’s songs, I felt them.

Donna Summer was the queen of disco so it was very poignant that I spoke with her in the last year of the 80s, the decade where she reigned supreme. Donna had just celebrated her 40th birthday the year before so our conversation was very personal as she spoke about her hopes and dreams for her children, and ironically fears for them as the new decade approached. But most importantly she was looking forward to getting out on the road which she loved most, performing for her fans.
My most favorite memory was getting whisked away to her show in Atlantic City in the late 80s by limousine, spending time with her daughters Mimi and Brooklyn, named for her husband Bruce Sudano's childhood home, and then having a private dinner at midnight in the hotel talking, laughing, eating, and feeling like a part of her life in that moment in time.
Donna Summer's light may have dimmed, but her music will never be forgotten.

Music legend Donna Summer inspires October’s Diabetes Roundtable podcast dedicated to cancer survivors living with diabetes. The one hour whirlwind of wellness is hosted by the happy healthcare host, Mr. Divabetic.
Donna Summer was a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith. A five-time Grammy Award winner, Donna Summer truly was the ‘Queen of Disco.’ Her voice was unforgettable, and the music industry has lost a legend far too soon. After a long battle with lung cancer, Donna Summer died at age 63 in 2012.
The Grammy-winning singer was known for the disco hits "Hot Stuff," "Last Dance," "Bad Girls" and many more. Her classic disco tunes found their way into just about every corner of our culture, from 'American Idol' to Beyoncé's 'Naughty Girl.' Her iconic 1977 anthem "I Feel Love," which peaked at #6 on the Billboard singles chart (one of 14 top 10 hits), was the first mainstream song to be produced using an entirely synthesized backing track. Until then, most disco recordings had been backed by acoustic orchestras, and the reception to the song revolutionized music.
Donna Summer’s music and life infuses our Hot Topic discussions and Diabetes Numerology Game segments.
