Grieving The Loss Of A Pet-When Is It Time To Get A New Dog?

    in Pets

All pet lovers have to face the death of their pets, sooner or later.  Other people may not understand the loss of a beloved best friend.  They may say "it's just a dog," or "it was only a cat, not a child" or even "Get over it already, it was a pet, not a person."

But when we lose an animal, we also lose the companionship, comfort, security and unconditional love of our best friend.  This loss of a pet is devasting, as only another pet parent can know.  The pain of that loss is very deep and real to the person or persons who considered the dog a member of the family.

The loss can be as emotionally significant as  the loss of a close human relative.  Loving and kind people care about both humans and animals.

When Is The Time To Get A New Dog?

While an animal companion can never be "replaced" it is important that the people involved are emotionally ready to welcome another companion into the family.  In this podcast Judy Helm Wright and Judy Cameron will be discussing the signs and signals that your spirit is ready to invite a new animal into your life.

In a supportive atmosphere we will provide a forum to help you make the decision when the right time is to welcome a new pet, while still honoring the life of the  pet you lost.

Did Cliff Huxtable FOOL Us ALL? The Bill Cosby Sex Case Debacle - Guilty or Not?

    in News

A firestorm of controversy surrounds comedian Bill Cosby after multiple allegations have surfaced claiming that he sexually assaulted numerous women, with alleged incidents dating as far back as 1969.

The 77-year-old is known around the world for his role as the lovable father Heathcliff Huxtable on the long-running sitcom The Cosby Show, and for having a stand-up comedy career that spans five decades. However, beginning in 2004, various claims of sexual assault and date rape began being leveled against Cosby. He has never been charged in any criminal case regarding any of these accusations, and through attorneys has repeatedly denied that any of the allegations are true.

This case first received attention in 2002. Many were disappointed and surprised at his behavior and many of taken a stance and have come to his defense noting that these women are looking for 30 seconds of fame, if this happend why did they wait this long to say something and some even think that these women are trying to destroy his career. Why? What do YOU think? Did Cliff Huxtable fool us all?

  • Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman: Your child can be more than his test scores

    in Psychology

Amy Alkon's Advice Goddess Radio: "Nerd Your Way To A Better Life!" with the best brains in science.

On this show, a "Best Of" replay, cognitive psychologist Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman lays out why intelligence tests currently used are far too limiting in determining a student’s true potential.

Kaufman is a rigorous researcher whose work I know and respect, but his new book, UNGIFTED: Intelligence Redefined, offers much more than science. It offers inspiration in Kaufman’s own story as a “late listener” (due to a spate of ear infections) who was put into learning disabled classes. And then, in 9th grade, through sheer determination, pushed his way into a gifted kids’ class -- ultimately going on to Yale, getting a Ph.D., then going on to become a young professor at NYU.

On this show, we’ll discuss the limitations of current testing and a host of other things that matter in whether a child succeeds and how Scott thinks we would better assess talent, creativity, and “the many paths to greatness.”

Please buy my science-based and funny book on better human behavior, "Good Manners for Nice People Who Sometimes Say F*ck."  Along with positive reviews in the WSJ and other publications, Library Journal gave the book a starred review: "Verdict: Solid psychology and a wealth of helpful knowledge and rapier wit fill these pages. Highly recommended."

  • NFL: Code of Conduct and Playoff Highlights - K&K SPORTS TALK with Kat & Keith

    in Sports

THE NEW NFL PERSONAL CONDUCT POLICY

The NFL has developed a new Personal Conduct Policy that applies to all NFL personnel — owners,
coaches, players, other team employees, game officials and league office employees. The policy
was developed after discussions with more than 150 experts from across the country — including
domestic violence and sexual assault experts, advocates and survivors, law enforcement officials,
academic experts, business leaders, current and former players and the NFL Players Association.

HOW DOES IT WORK? The policy establishes clear standards of behavior for all NFL personnel. Clubs are
obligated to promptly report any potential violation of the policy that comes to their attention and must fully cooperate
with any related law enforcement and NFL investigations. When a potential violation occurs, the NFL will make
available evaluation and counseling services for the player or employee, as well as resources to assist victims and
    families.

The NFL will follow a fair and predictable process for investigating the incident and ultimately taking
disciplinary action if a violation has occurred.
