Unacceptable Levels examines the results of the chemical revolution of the 1940s through the eyes of affable filmmaker Ed Brown, a father seeking to understand the world in which he and his wife are raising their children. To create this debut documentary, one man and his camera traveled extensively to find and interview top minds in the fields of science, advocacy, and law. Weaving their testimonies into a compelling narrative, Brown presents us with the story of how the chemical revolution brought us to where we are, and of where, if we’re not vigilant, it may take us.
Over 80,000 chemicals flow through our system of commerce, and many are going straight into our bodies. Even our unborn children are affected. Due to this constant exposure, we have approximately 200 synthetic industrial chemicals interacting with our cells every single day. Until recently, modern science really didn’t understand what that could mean for all of us in the long run, but that is changing.
Globally, disease rates are on the rise. Theories about the causes abound, yet the issues are complex and often muddied by the maneuvering of political and corporate interests. To explore different facets of common chemical exposure, Unacceptable Levels, was made in consultation with experts in multiple fields and is guided by a father on a personal journey as he attempts to bring these issues to light for everyone. Its primary goal? To determine whether we can prevent disease before it strikes us.
Unacceptable Levels opens the door to conversations about the chemical burden our bodies carry so that we can make informed decisions now and in the future. The film poses challenges to our companies, our government, and our society to do something about a nearly-unseen threat with the inspired knowledge that small changes can generate a massive impact.

Filmmaker Kyle Olson visits Movie Addict HQ to discuss Letters to Ashleigh, his moving documentary based on a real-life tragedy involving the murder of teenager Ashleigh Love. This unusual documentary shows how one girl’s death inspired an entire community to make a change. A red-carpet premiere for the movie is scheduled for August 9, and proceeds from this event will be donated to Ashleigh’s family to help them spread the word about Ashleigh’s story in order to bring the perpetrator of this senseless murder to justice. Film critic Mack Bates will co-host this special episode.
During Letters to Ashleigh, family members read letters they received in the days and weeks following Ashleigh’s death – first from close family and friends, and then total strangers from around the country who heard about the story. The film gives audiences a glimpse of a family that was hit with an unimaginable tragedy but still found a way to persevere with their heads held high.
Among Olson’s film and TV credits are the following:
Director of SMHS: 007
Writer/director/producer of Lights, Camera, Camp! and The Robert & Rosie Show
Production staff on Under the Electric Sky, Face/Off, America’s Top Model, Dancing with the Stars
Audience warm-up for The Voice, The X Factor and The Sing-Off
Olson was honored with a Crystal Pillar Award by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Chicago/Midwest Chapter.
Please welcome to the show Selena Roane
Hey there everyone! My name is Selena Roane I am the founder of FEAR Paranormal Society and host of the internet show called Close to Death on PEN. I have had an interest in the paranormal since childhood and have even had some prophetic dreams. My passion for the field intensified with I lost my mom in 2004; add to that the passing of my best friend and my interest quickly went into overdrive. I have recently become aware of the fact that I have some empath abilities and am working on focusing on growing and developing that ability more. I have also been speaking as of late at conferences and Paracons. I have been included as an investigator on the documentary Shadows on 66 and have a few major projects in the works for 2014. I very much look forward to interacting with everyone and learning more about all the different facets of the paranormal field.
