Sam, Cliff, and Lisa will highlight ongoing struggles against "the system" to free wrongfully imprisoned people, and what happens when justice miscarries against an actually innocent person.

They say child support was created to maintain the standard living of a child or children resulting from a marriage. What about the children who were born out of wedlock? According to family law, it is the duty of both parents to support a minor child until he or she reaches adulthood. What if one parent is denied that right? Should he or she still be financially responsible? Join us as we discuss Child Support.
They say once a man marries his wife, he should not have any doubt as to being the father of any child born during that union. What happens when it's proven later on through DNA that said man is not the father of any children that resulted in that union? Should there be mandatory DNA testing set up to prevent this from happening? Join us as we discuss Mandatory DNA Testing.
They say the way to avoid a nasty divorce is by setting up a prenuptial agreement. Many are serving prison sentences for violent crimes they claim they did not commit. Today's science of DNA testing can examine the evidence left at the scene of a crime - strands of hair, bits of skin, etc. - and can determine the identity of the person involved. This presents new opportunities to be found innocent, if the government would be willing to conduct the tests. Johnnie Savory, accused at age 14 of committing a murder, spent 30 years in prison before being set free. He has maintained his innocence all these years and now is demanding that DNA tests be performed on evidence gathered at the murder scene in order to clear his name. The State of Illinois has finally agreed to perform the necessary testing. His case has prompted several others to be freed after DNA testing proved their innocence, and to receive compensation for their wrongful imprisonment. How have been imprisoned for crimes they did not commit? Can DNA testing finally make our criminal justice system more just?

In making a diagnosis, DNA dignostics are often considered the final arbiter of whether or not you have certain conditions. But what if the DNA testing is inconclusive? Three guests join Joyce for a discussion of the practical and emotional turmoil this can create: Catherine Stolle, Ph.D., one of the top DNA testing units in the U.S.; Gayun Chan-Smutko, MSGC, of Massachusetts General Hospital; and Gary L. Wood, Psy.D., a clinical psychologist who understands first-hand the anxieties of having a genetic condition in the family. Please join us for the important discussion.
It's very important to know your history. However with all these different concepts or stories, how can we trust anything about our history or culture? How many of you have paid for a DNA Test? How many people have paid Ancestry.com to look up family? What did this type of research actually help you with? Should it matter what we are mixed with? Do you know what it means to be mixed raced? We are going to break it all down and expose what these test are really doing.
