    THIS IS HELL KANSAS

    in Politics

    Quit early.

And what's so great about this TGIF celebration?  You can listen to their latest show as it streams live the very next morning beginning at 9am.!

Start your Friday exit from wage-slavery with a good dose of chicanery and chutzpah.  I'll provide the audio intoxicants and smart-ass podcast talk from the best - Chuck Mertz and crew at Chicago's WNUR 89.3FM at  THIS IS HELL radio.

From what they're all "about" page:

" ... Each broadcast features long-form interviews with writers, thinkers and workers from around the world and across the spectrum of experience. Our interviews are built on research and critical analysis, not preconceived opinions or political agendas. This is Hell! is not a soap box, or a pulpit, or an audition for a corporate job somewhere. It’s a bar stool, three beers into a conversation with a fascinating stranger. It’s the news-stand of your dreams that would go broke in the real world. ..."

Author Conversation: "They Know Everything about You" on "The Tim Danahey Show"

    in Politics

We all value Constitutional protections. They were designed to protect us from our government. But what happens when Silicon Valley corporations are the agents of government and they use social media and hardware to violate our Fourth Amendment protections? Should we have to forfeit our rights to when we click “I Agree” to use social media? Should Congress enact “opt in” legislation that requires data gatherers specific permission to use or sell our information? The degree of data gathering has gone far beyond anything we imagined. In fact, Facebook is working with the Defense Department on the Minerva Research Initiative which is designed to use social media to coerce public opinion and quell dissent. You won’t believe what the person in charge of Google’s long-term planning said about swallowing a daily data chip with you vitamin and their ability to monitor whether you’ve taken your pill today. It’s FDA-approved. Listen to the author of “They Know Everything About You” then buy the book.  Since 2010 The Tim Danahey Show show discusses economics, government, social issues, history, and non-fiction books in a magazine format featuring in-depth conversations with guests. Politics and inflammatory conversations are discouraged as they are divisive and counter-productive. Instead, the show seeks under-reported topics and delves into facts, different perspectives, and ramifications of each perspective. The show does not espouse a political agenda. There is no rambling discourse or personal attacks. This show is one of the highest quality and professional programs available. Tim Danahey’s strength is to take complex subjects, talk with experts, and make them comprehensible and entertaining for average listeners.

2nd Hour: A rare archival recording from Bristol (U.K.) Broadband Cooperative. David Barsamian of Alternative Radio originally produced this prescient hit lecture. About the lecturer: Philip Agee was a former Central Intelligence Agency officer who served in Latin America. After resigning from the CIA he lectured and wrote on the Agency's clandestine operations. His activities were not unnoticed. Ex CIA Director and later President Bush the first called Agee "a traitor to our country." He is the author of "Inside the Company: CIA Diary" and "On the Run." He died in Cuba in January 2008.
