Reasonable faith seems like an oxymoronic statement. However, as we discussed in June, our faith is based in reason. Faith is not just a matter of the heart but a product of the mind. It's taking the time to use critical thinking skills, observation, and logic to see whether or not what we believe is really true.
The idea behind this is to understand that God really does want us to seek Him. In Matthew 11:28-30 it says, "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Why do we thinking Jesus is saying to learn of him and then correlates it to rest? I believe it's because the more you learn about Him, the surer we are in our faith. For in learning, we probe. As we probe, we gain answers. As we gain answers, our foundation is sure. When our foundation is sure, we have no fear that it can be shaken.

Not too long ago, a prestigious secular scientific magazine suggested that religion, finally, was dying in the Western world. In fact, the death of God -- thus the misplaced need for such a being -- is an event to look forward to. After all, man has advanced to a point in history where the crutch of faith can be cast off. We understand the makings of our world in new and interesting ways. After all, we have robots performing surgeries. We can look billions of light years away and probe distant galaxies. We understand how our bodies work. What do we need with faith. After all, faith is simply blind, misguided trust in some 'great and powerful' entity that has nothing better to do than make us believe we need Him.
Or so these proponents, in one form or another, say.
Unfortunately, the magazine isn't off the mark. Religion is being usurped by this thought of humanism. In countries like the U. K. and Holland, God isn't very popular. And when I say God, I mean Jesus Christ. These countries, on the surface, appear to go on with life, enjoying it without any thought of eternity. Faith is outdated. It isn't logical.
Or is it?
How can we tell a world that faith is more than just a matter of heart, it is of the mind as well? How can we reach our children who grow up in churches and are already spiritually distant from God by the time they're in their pre-teens? Can the Church be equipped to combat against a society that raises man to godhood and God to a mere imaginary friend of a man's consciousness?
Join me as I talked with Trevor Slone of Ratio Christi as we discuss these issues and how to equip the Church to know that our faith is reasonable. You can call in at 646-595-2083, press 1 to be live on air. Or, you can download the WLUV radio mobile app. Any way you can, join us
How do you know when you are in faith? That question will be answered in tonight's broadcast by Pastor Will as he go through the bible to see what The Word of God has to say about the subject of faith. That way you can judge and examine yourself to see where you are at in your faith and how to grow from there.
