The host of Lets Chat Radio has been a licensed insurance benefits counselor for 6 years working in the life and health insurance markets and today will discuss disablilty insurance. Get your pencil and paper ready !
Nearly one-third of U.S. workers will become disabled at some point in their career before reaching retirement, according to a 2009 estimate from the Social Security Administration. Yet the federal agency says that 70% of employees aren't covered by private long-term disability insurance. Social Security disability benefits are available for certain disabled workers, but the average payout is only 40% of a person's income and the allowance rate for initial claims can be as low as 30% in some areas of the U.S.
Individual disability insurance is truly a basic concept. It is an insurance product designed to replace anywhere from 45-60% of your gross income on a tax-free basis should a sickness or illness prevent you from earning an income in your occupation. Your most important asset is your ability to bring home a paycheck, DI makes sure that regardless of any adverse changes to your health, you are able to provide for yourself and your family. Every disability insurance policy from every insurance company is very different, this is not a product to simply shop for the most competitive rate. To buy the cheapest disability insurance policy on the market is to throw money away. The odds of getting paid a monthly benefit under a cheap contract may be significantly lower than receiving benefits from a quality contract. The goal of this show is to provide you with information to make an educated decision on your own. I will provide you with information regarding the major features of a disability insurance policy so that you may better understand how to read a disability insurance policy. What happens when you have an injury that ends your career? If you aren’t covered by the proper disability insurance you could have drastic ramifications to your income. Some disability insurance will protect you whether the injury is work related or not. Shirley Gutkowski, Host of Cross Link Radio, speaks with Craig Gussin and Jean Rockwell about different types of disability insurance.
Craig Gussin attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where he received his degree in Business Administration. Craig also holds an advanced degree, Charter Life Underwriter from Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He is a Certified Health Care Reform Specialist and a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, along with the National Association of Health Underwriters and The International Disability Insurance Society. He has written articles, conducted seminars, been interviewed on TV, Radio, in the newspaper and magazines, including the June 2011 issue of Money Magazine.
Jean Rockwell was a full time RDH for 29 years, when she was forced to retire due to a disability. Luckily, she had disability insurance, allowing her to maintain the lifestyle she had while working as an RDH. She lives in San Diego, California, and is currently working part time as an insurance agent with Auerbach & Gussin Insurance, promoting disability insurance to RDH’s. She is a co-author of an article in RDH Magazine where she examines the features of a comprehensive disability insurance policy. She also co-monitors an online group, specifically designed for disabled or injured RDH’s. She is a member of ADHA and CDHA. Jean attended Pensacola Junior College in Pensacola, Florida and obtained her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene.
As dental hygienists, we have all at least contemplated about buying disability insurance. But is it worth the expense? What kind of disabilty insurance is there? How expensive is it? What would it cover? How long would it last if you ever needed to use it? Today, America's Dental Hygienist, Shirley Gutkowski talks with Ann Hansen about all the pros-and-cons of disablilty insurance. Ann Hansen is a Registered Dental Hygienist and has a Bachelor's Degree in Health. She has over 30 years of dental experience--ranging from registered dental assistant, insurance manager, office manager and dental hygienist. She has been retired from dental hygiene since 2008 but still stays connected to dentistry through education and mentoring. She is a two-time attendee of Career Fusion--and loves the comraderie and support it has brought to her life.

Are many sick or injured people cut off from Long-Term Disability Benefits after two years? Does that sound like long-term support for the injured? Is this something in the fine print? And were do those premiums paid for go? Let's talk about Long-Term Disability Benefits from Employers and Insurance Companies today.
In the beginning, Congress supported the interest of Insurance Policyholders through ERSIA Legislation. The Department of Labor (which helps oversee enforcement) defines ERISA Legislation as, "The Employee Retirement Income Security Act or ERISA is a Federal law that sets standards of protection for individuals in most voluntarily established, private-sector retirement plans." This includes benefits such as Short-Term and Long-Term Disability and Life Insurance Plans.
Having trouble getting your benefits from Employer or Insurance Companies after twenty-four months? In my opinion, too many insured claims are thrown under the bus after two years. How much is your Insurance Plan worth in times of hardships?

If a California business has employees, then the employer must obtain workers' compensation insurance. The insurance coverage should take effect from the moment the first employee commences employment. However, what are a businessperson’s options if he or she has no insurance? How is a claim filed, and how long does an employee have to file it? Join Bill, Rick and Steve to find out these answers and more.
