Turning 25: Quarter-Century Life Crisis (Dream, Drive, Purpose, Uplift)

    in Women

The first thing I realized when I turned the big "Two-Five", "I won't be on the top 25 under 25." After all, I am not where I hoped to be by the time I turned 25. Back in the 90's growing up in Montgomery County, Maryland, all throughout elementary school, I've always thought by the age of 25 I would be a house-hold name, some big time movie star, international singer, first trillionairre, etc. Yes trillionairre. My motto is "Why have a million dollar dream, when you can have a billion dollar dream;" in this case, a trillion dollar dream.  For that reason, I dream and kept dreaming.
Fast forward to now at 25, I am still dreaming. What have I done to make my dream an reality? What am I most passionate about? Do I want to continue another 5 years of my life just dreaming or do I want to begin living out my dream? . What have I done? Who am I? Why am I not in a closer walk with Christ than I should be? At this point I should know what I want to do in life. I should know what's God's will for my life. My passion should be clear. Yet, I still have no idea. Stuck. If my goal is to make it on the list top 30 under 30 then I have a lot of work to do in order to get there.
However, getting on some list shouldn't be your sole purpose of hustling. Do what God has called you to do. One thing I realized is that our passions, desires, and goal comes to us easily. It is what you love to do. What keeps you up all night, what excites you, your hobbies etc. You enjoy doing it whether you get paid to do it or for free. It's what you love to do. Once you discover that, then the next step is to figure out how to brand your passion.  How do I get paid to do what I love? This, my friend, is possible. It takes hard work, patience, and networking, but it is possible. Read my full blog: EncouragingDynamicWomen.blogspot.com.

On The Air - With Danielle Coulter, Best selling author

    in Books

Our guest today on Hot Pink Radio is Danielle Coulter, three time best sellng author of "The Hard Life of Zoe", "If Dan Can Shred, You Can Too!" and her latest children's book, "Zoe And The Missing Clown Costume" which is part 2 in the Zoe series.

    Get her books HERE

    About Danielle

My name is Danielle Coulter and I was born with Cerebral Palsy. At the age of 20, I decided to write my bio so people can hear my story. A lot of my friends have been putting a bug in my ear to write a book for years; one-day things just clicked into place and I started writing. My book is called If Dan Can Shred, You Can Too. I want to share my stories and adventures to inspire you to stand up and follow your dreams whether you have a disability or not.

I have overcome so many obstacles in my life, and now I have overcome the biggest one- typing. As I was growing up it was hard for me to read and write. When I was writing short stories in school I looked at a blank page for a long time because I was scared to misspell words, but I learned that it is okay to misspell words and to just keep typing away. I am happy that I got over that so I could share my story with you and have you hear my real voice. No obstacle is too big a wall; one day, you will break it down.

I am also the first adaptive snowboarder in the world, and I tell you this to say that if you have a dream that you want to make a reality, do it, and let no one stop you!

Jim Salmon of Navy Federal Credit Union is guest on Small Business Week

    in Lifestyle

Every year since 1963, the President of the United States has issued a proclamation announcing National Small Business Week, which recognizes the critical contributions of America's entrepreneurs and small business owners. More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year.

LIfe Lessons kicks off National Small Business Week with Jim Salmon, the head of Business Lending at Navy Federal Credit Union. Salmon shres how to start and grow a business, and he'll share information about programs designed to help military veterans run a successful business. A military veteran himself, Salmon will also discuss why it's good business to support veteran-owned and operated businesses and how veterans have many of the skills necessary to run a successful business.

We hear a lot about helping our brave veterans, but the sad fact is that despite an improving economy, many have difficulty finding employment after leaving the military. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), young male veterans, ages 18 to 24, who served during the Gulf War II era, including those who have served at any time since September 2001, had an unemployment rate of 21.9%(more than double the national average).
