He can also be heard on the Mindless Behavior song “Mrs. Right.” This week, J'Wan Yvette shines her artist spotlight on Diggy Simmons.
The teenage son of Run-DMC’s Rev Run Simmons, and nephew of hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, recalls how he got started as an MC. “A lot of people think this is new to me, but I’ve been rapping since I was five years old,” First Flight singer Diggy Simmons tells host Timothy Hodge. “I was young, so people used to write my rhymes. But I kinda stopped rapping when I was 10. Then this summer I was making tracks on my laptop. No microphone, no nothing. And I put out this remix to Asher Roth’s She Don’t Want A Man, and it got really good feedback. A friend of mine, Young Jerz, was like, ‘That’s crazy! What are you gonna do next?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know.’ He was like, ‘Are you gonna do a mixtape? You gonna show it to your dad? And I was like, ‘Yeah, a mixtape sounds amazing.’”

Unbound by J.B. Simmons combines...
"The Da Vinci Code meets The Hunger Games meets Left Behind"
Unbound is an apocalyptic thriller by J.B. Simmons. The first book in The Omega Trilogy follows 18-year-old Elijah as his nightmares of a dragon turn into reality when the beast of the end times is released. The recently released novel is getting great reviews.
Simmons offers a fascinating glimpse into the way our world could look in 50 years. Mixing futuristic technology with historical places and end-times theology, Unbound is both thoughtful and entertaining. As many reviewers have said, you won’t be able to put it down.
From the back cover:
He must be released for a little while. But the one who sees doesn't believe.
Elijah Goldsmith has nightmares he needs to ignore. Why would a rich kid from Manhattan dream three straight nights about a dragon and the destruction of St. Peter's Basilica? He's never even been to Rome.

The only thing known for certain about the 1960s Girl Group known as The Ribbons (Arthetta Givan, Lovie Kinchion, Evelyn Doty and Vessie Simmons) is that they had one nationally charting single in February 1963 and that was the # 81 Billboard Pop Hot 100 Ain't Gonna Kiss Ya, written by James Marcus Smith (better known as P.J. Proby), and which was produced by Marshall Lieb and distributed on the tiny Los Angeles-based Marsh M-202 b/w My Baby Said.
