This week on Making Sense with Steve Leser, it's all about the Shutdown. First, I spar with former Republican House Majority Leader and former head of FreedomWorks Dick Armey, then Bob Cusack, Managing Editor of "The Hill" and I will discuss where we go from here to end the shutdown. Of course, we will have our trademark weekly hall of fame and shame regarding those politicians and prominent individuals who made great sense or shameful nonsense, respectively. An early heads up for the show of October 20-21, former New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson will join me to discuss a wide range of political issues and also his new book that is due out.
Dick Armey Disses the Dirt
Richard Keith "Dick" Armey is a former U.S. Representative from Texas' 26th congressional district (1985–2003) and House Majority Leader (1995–2003). He was one of the engineers of the "Republican Revolution" of the 1990s, in which Republicans were elected to majorities of both houses of Congress for the first time in four decades. Armey was one of the chief authors of the Contract with America. Armey is also an author and former economics professor.Former Freedom Works chairman Dick Armey revealed that the Tea Party group paid Glenn Beck about $1 million to say "nice things" about the group on his radio show, and that it got a negative return on that investment, in an interview Friday. It's easy to overlook, or not hear, Davis' vast musical contributions, because this giant was unjustly somewhat under the radar in the '60s and early '70s radio mainstream. But he was certainly there all along. He's the impossibly funky drummer behind guitarist Dennis Coffey and organist Lyman Woodard on the legendary, sample-worthy single "River Rouge"/"It's Your Thing"; the evocative lead vocalist on the 8th Day's AM soul staple "You've Got to Crawl (Before You Walk)"; the songwriter who penned J.J. Barnes' desperate ode "Chains of Love," which — in the hands of Detroit rock band the Dirtbombs — served as the musical centerpiece of the 2007 Julian Schnabel art-house film The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Songwriter royalties aside, Davis is still not a household name.

It's that midweek time which means Sean, Steve and Katie are ready to spend another two hours with you and the wrestlers you may or may not know, but we guarantee you that you will be informed as well as entertained.
First off we will have joining us "Rockin'" Randy Rhodes. Randy is a Floridian who has been around the business for many years. He was an enhancement talent for 1980s WWF, where he worked a number of name stars, including a just starting Undertaker. His circle includes Bob "Blackjack Mulligan" Windham and Dirty Dick Slater and Joel Deaton among others. We are pleased to present Randy to our audience.
We have said our motto is "We Embrace Controversy" and in our second (and possibly third) hour we will most definately embrace controversy. Two different wrestling promotions in the Midwest are being called out, each for something different. In one promotion, a couple of fundraisers that one promotion ran are now rife with accusations that the money did not go to the causes it was intended for. Also, at a show in Minnesota, a manager chose the WRONG way to get heat on himself. We will discuss that as well.
Comments and questions, which will be screened for content, and allowed based on time will be taken via our chat, through Skype or via phone at (347) 826-9418. Due to the very real possibility of us going over we encourage our listeners to call or Skype early in the show to avoid missing show content after 12:00 Eastern.

Oklahoma came back to beat LSU in the final seconds, but who won the idividual matchup between Ben Simmons and Buddy Hield? It's not as black and white as you may think. Apparently Cam Newton is a "polarizing figure." There's been many a QB before Cam to be "polarizing", namely Namath, so what really is it that has Cam getting under people's skin? Is it really because he's black? He seems to think so. Dennis Wideman took out an official, and is suspended indefinitely. Does the punishment fit the crime, or can we justify his cross-check? Blake Griffen breaks his hand on his equipment manager's face. Aside from being a dick, what should his punishment be? Also, being that the Clippers seem to be doing fine without him, should he be traded, and what could you get for him? I love John Clayton, his pony-tail, and his Slayer t-shirts, but he ranked the Bills/Giants Super Bowl (Norwood miss) #1. Sorry, John, but there's many, MANY Super Bowls that are better. We'll list them. ESPN already has Steph Curry as the #4 ranked Point Guard in the HISTORY of the NBA. Seriously. I know the kid is lights out, but are you F**king kidding me? And LeBron's future in Cleveland, now that he fired David Blatt. All that and more on the next "Shirts v. Skins."
