One of the most difficult aftereffects of brain injury is losing oneself. Depending on the injury and which part of the brain is impacted determines the type of emotional and behavioral change in one’s personality. A person who was agreeable, complacent, reasonable, and calm before the injury may change drastically to one who is violent, depressive, or struggles with anger management. These effects are not easy for others to understand – BUT, have you thought how difficult it must be for the survivor? My panel, M. S. survivor, Lisa Dryer and Brain Injury survivor, GeorgeAnna Bell will join me to discuss this sensitive topic.
Every TBI survivor and caregiver has encountered a fork in the road that has diverted his or her life-plan. A car accident, a fall from the roof, doing one more chin-up, or a door literally slamming one in the face are just some causes of traumatic brain injury. College plans, walking down the aisle in the perfect dress, or the coveted job quickly slip from reality as dreams turn to struggle. These unexpected life-happenings that divert one from his or her chosen path in life can be devastating. But as Yogi Berra once said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it." Life is all about choices!

Kristen Rogers has always had a passion for writing, but found her calling in poetry at the age of 14. Since then, Rogers has written poetry as a way to cope with the everyday trials and tribulations that we face in our lives. Rogers’ poetry centers around her life, friends, family, experiences, things she is passionate about, or that spark her interest. In November, she released her first book of poetry entitled ‘Kristen’s Diary’ that is available for purchase on Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com. Kristen’s Diary chronicles Rogers’ life, and tells a story of heartache, triumph, and perseverance that everyone can relate to. In addition to writing poetry, Rogers has also written for blackgirldangerous.org about her experience as a bisexual black woman, as well as help start a business called the Black Excellence Network. Kristen Rogers is a 2nd year graduate student at Adler University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in Chicago, IL. Her plans after graduating include finding work in consultation, and starting a PhD program in public policy. She is passionate about the #BlackLivesMatter movement, LGBTQ rights, and reproductive rights. Her hope is to use her platform as an artist and business owner to speak out against inequality in our society.

Born May 31, 1982 in Wilson, NC, Miss Radiance was raised by her grandmother - Josephine Jacob Johnson. She grew up in the small town of Stantonsburg, NC. Because of her shyness, the things she wanted to express seemed to come out easier on paper so when she was 11 years old, her grandmother bought her a diary for Christmas. Miss Radiance discovered that writing was not only fun but therapeutic.
Miss Radiance's experiences throughout her teenage years and beyond, inspired many short stories and even her first novel, Gansta Lovin Volume One: An Epic Love Story. Since then Miss Radiance has been signed to G Street Chronicles and released her fifth book, an erotic romance titled Love, Sex and Mayhem. Miss Radiance writes because of the love and passion she has for her craft. Her main purpose is to entertain with her characters and the stories they have to tell.
Join me, Why Yet, as I sit and chat with Miss Radiance about her journey and what is in store for her next!
