Listen in to Fieldstone Common this week as host Marian Pierre-Louis talks to author Diane Rapaport about her book The Naked Quaker: True Crimes and Controversies from the Courts of Colonial New England.
The word “Puritan” conjures up dour images of 17th-century New Englanders. We rarely think of Puritans as people who had fun, or sex. Our ancestors used different words, but human nature was not so different 350 years ago.
In the title story, a Quaker woman walks into Puritan Sunday meeting and drops her dress to protest actions of the colonial authorities. The Naked Quaker takes us into the lives of our ancestors, revealing how they behaved and spoke. A highway robber threatens his victim: “I will take you by your eyelids and make your heels strike fire!” A mysterious woman wields “enthusiastical power” over married men, who break the law to follow her.
Diane Rapaport, a former trial lawyer, has made a new career as a historical consultant, genealogist, award-winning author and popular speaker. She offers an unusual combination of expertise and experience—in law, history and genealogy—and she enjoys discovering and telling the stories of our past. She specializes in court records and other historical resources of New England, and her current research focuses on African Americans and Native Americans in the colonial period. She is also the author of New England Court Records: A Research Guide for Genealogists and Historians.

The writing life can be a solitary one. Attending conferences can keep you up to date on trends, developments and key players in writing, publishing and media in general. It is a wonderful means to reconnect with a lot of acquaintances in one busy day or weekend.
Even better when one is asked to appear as a featured speaker, panelist or guest, and if you’re really known and well respected in your genre your presence may be requested at conferences of a different nature.
Diane Fanning's millions of fans know that she’s one of America’s premier Crime novelists and True Crime authors. Though she gets out to courtrooms, bookstores, and writer’s events, that’s not all. Last October Fanning made a special appearance as part of the Crime Lab Detective Exhibit at Donald W. Reynolds Library located at 300 Library Hill, Mountain Home, Arkansas. She has served on the executive committees of the Writers’ League of Texas and the Heart of Texas chapter of Sisters in Crime and is also a member of Mystery Writers of America.
Join us as we talk with Fanning about personal appearances, conferences and commitees and how they build an author's platform. As for me, I've read almost all of her 21 books and interviewed her for my blog and am thrilled to have Diane Fanning on the show!

This session will come form Romans chapter 1. We will discuss with Christians on how to identify one whom has been reprobated by God. Saul was a man whom fell into disobedience and continue to follow in this dreadfull state of mind. God soon rejected him and elected another king. many times we roll the dice with God. We feel that God is obligated to continue to forgive us when we are in sin and disobedience. A Christain cannot enter reprobate unless he has had a form of godliness. A form of godliness in when the persons presumes to be saved but has a lukewarm lifestyle.
