SWAG Radio Presents: Akilam and Chimia Hill- Burton

    in Books

On this episode of SWAG Radio, Yara Kaleemah will be chatting with Akilam and Chimia about their outstanding novels. Malika Dews fell in love with reading around 18 years ago. She’d frequent the library leaving sometimes with five plus books. She often participated in summer reading contests’ as well. When The Coldest Winter Ever was released in 1999 by Sista Souljah, she developed a love for street literature and started to read more of that genre. She chose authors like Treasure Blue, Donald Goines and several others that were authors under Triple Crown Publications.
In 2001, while following Kimberla Lawson Roby's literary work (The Rev. Curtis Black series), she found herself reading more and more. This soon turned her into an avid reader choosing different genres and also a variety of series and stand alone titles.
In the fall of 2008, she picked up A Hustler’s Son by Toy Styles. This was before Toy launched The Cartel Publications. Malika loved the book so much, she reached out to her via email and they shared an insightful conversation. She knew then that she wanted to write a book. However, she still did not pick up a pen for fear of failure which delayed her writing.
In the winter of 2012, Malika came across a contest on Facebook which required a short store submission with the max word count of 12,000. Her first day after two rewrites and a test read by her mother, the response was “girl you better not submit this. Write your own book.” That same book, is now almost 40,000 words and still yet to be released.
The creativity she's bringing to the literary world will be under the genres' of Urban, Drama, Erotica, Romance, Christian Fiction. Chimia Y. Hill-Burton was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in December of 1981. She was raised in Giessen, Germany. Chimia is the proud daughter of Arline Crawford-Stevens and Eric Hill. She is the eldest child of four children, her brothers Henry, Lemuel and sister Hadijah.

"An Intricate Puzzle" Blood of the Lamb by Sam Cabot

    in Books

Murders, Mysteries and Mayhem host Stephen Campbell welcomes Edgar-winner S.J. Rozan and academic Carlos Dews, who have combined to write BLOOD OF THE LAMB, an audacious supernatural religious thriller under the pseudonym Sam Cabot.  The book has been described as:
“Firmly located in Dan Brown territory, this religious-themed thriller combines historical mystery with modern-day intrigue…One thing is crystal clear: Dews and Rozan have produced a first-rate thriller.” –Booklist   "You never quite catch your breath as the secrets unfold one at a time, all the while building to a first class conclusion. History, secrets, conspiracies, adventure. What more could you want from a thriller?" —Steve Berry, New York Times bestselling author   "A heady blend of Christian mythology and ecclesiastical reality, Blood of the Lamb is an intricate puzzle of a novel—intensely researched, deeply spiritual, and profoundly sacrilegious. I loved it." —F. Paul Wilson, New York Times bestselling author of the Repairman Jack series http://www.authorsontheair.com http://www.facebook.com/authorsontheair #AOTAIR This is a copyrighted podcast owned by the Authors on the Air Global Radio Network LLC and produced by Pam Stack.

Butt Monkeys Joshua and Mark Stuck on Stupid

    in Religion

45 ... then shall thy confidence wax strong in the presence of God; and the doctrine of the priesthood shall distil upon thy soul as the dews from heaven.   (D&C  121:45)   The false prophets have contradicted the testimony of Joseph Smith concerning heavenly messengers never ordaining men again.   And why should these messengers never ordain, or confer keys?  If they had the "doctrine of the Priesthood distilled upon their souls" as I, they would have known it.  For when Peter James and John ordained Joseph and Oliver to the Apostleship, they conferred all the keys that can be conferred upon mortal man, saith the Lord.  Therefore these false prophets stuck on stupid, are liars as per the statement of Joseph:   "...no true angel from God will ever come to ordain any man, because they have once been sent to establish the priesthood by ordaining me thereunto; and the priesthood being once established on earth, with power to ordain others, no heavenly messenger will ever come to interfere with that power by ordaining any more. ...You may therefore know, from this time forward, that if any man comes to you professing to be ordained by an angel, he is either a liar or has been imposed upon in consequence of transgression by an angel of the devil, for this priesthood shall never be taken away from this church (kingdom)." (Millennial Star 8 [November 20, 1846]: 139) Bshop Koyle doctrine of One Mighty and Strong to be a resurrected personage, shown by this principle to be false (believed and taught by Ogden Kraut) also.
