Teenagers and Contraceptives
Do you have a teenager OR had a teenager who is now an adult? Well tonight at 6:30pm on Real Talk with Devara we will be discussing whether or not it’s okay for the parent to give their teenager contraceptives when the parent doesn’t approve of their teen having sex. This is a controversial topic due to the fact that some people feel that when a parent gives their teenager contraceptives the parent is approving of their teens sexual activity. On the other hand, some people feel that a parent should not give their teenager contraceptives and that if the teen gets pregnant (or gets someone pregnant) they should take responsibility for their actions.
If you are dealing with this situation right now and you’re not exactly sure what to do, tune in tonight for Real Talk. Or if you have any experience in this topic we could use your input. “For Law or For Love”
What if you had to make a decision between choosing to follow the law and choosing to keep a relationship with your child? What if it was a law based on your spirituality or even the law of the government? Would you risk losing the relationship that you have with your child? Or would you say your freedom and your spiritual connection with God is more important? Well it may seem to be an easy question to answer until you are faced with it head on. It’s one thing to hear about a situation like this and say what you would do than to experience this situation in your own personal life, in your family. Seriously, think about it, which would you choose, the law or keeping the relationship with your child? Maybe some things are easier said than done.

Tonight’s topic on “Real Talk” with Devara. Many rape survivors often blame themselves and feel that their actions somehow actually contributed to them being raped. Also being married does not constitute consent? Do you have questions? Like…How long do I have to report it? What if I was at their place? Or What if I was under the influence? What if, What if, What if…..Call tonight at 6:30pm, EST (310)982-4267 or just listen by clicking or using this link http://tobtr.com/s/4558833. “Should the Woman Do the Chasing?”
Over the years we have heard that a man supposed to chase a woman and not the other way around. It’s been said that if a woman chases a man it’s not “becoming of a lady”, she’s desperate. However, in today’s society, is that necessarily true? There are women who propose to the man instead of the man proposing to the woman. There are women who enjoy pursuing the man, because the ball is in their court. There are men who enjoy being chased instead of being the chaser. We have believed that the male instinct is to hunt and the female instinct is to be pursued. What is the proper way? Is it okay for a woman to chase a man? What if the man likes to be chased, should the woman miss the opportunity of having a relationship with that man because of what society has said or is saying? Does it make the woman desperate if she does chase the man?

Incarcerated Children and the Parents Who Love Them
Tonight’s topic on Real Talk with Devara at 6:30pm, EST.
We can take our children so far, we can impart knowledge of right and wrong and good and bad, but we cannot make the decisions for them. We love our children and most give their children the tools they need for success. However there may come a time where they may end up going down the wrong path or having the wrong friends either by choice or by default and end up incarcerated. What’s a parent to do? Tonight we have a special guest on Real Talk that will help us explore the parents’ perspective of having children who are incarcerated.

“Everyone Has a Story, What’s Your Story?”
We all know someone who has experienced pain in some kind of shape or form, whether they did it to themselves or it was done by the hands of someone else. Pain is not respect of persons. We all can agree that it “hurts.” It can come in many forms. A person can have a smile on their face, a limp when they walk, a frown on their face, or be known as the life of a party and can be experiencing pain. Behind the smile, the limp, or the frown there is a “Story.” So, what’s your story? We all have one whether we want to admit it or not. Some people are living in guilt, shame, fear, unforgiveness, denial, anger, bitterness, turmoil, grief, and depression right now. It stems from their story. If you can relate to any of this without any hesitation, then you have a story. BUT THERE IS HOPE!
Tonight at 6:30pm on Real Talk with Devara we will have a guest who will be telling her story in hopes of freeing someone else. I encourage every one of you to call in. You don’t have to tell your story, but just hearing someone else’s story can let you know that you are not alone and that if they made it through their story, So Can You. Our guest will share how she overcame her pain and how she stopped the cycle of self-destruction. Invite someone you know that can benefit from this. You never know, this one call can change their life or even your life. Don’t Miss It. Call 310-982-4267 tonight at 6:30pm EST or go to http://tobtr.com/s/5521501. “Babies Having Babies”
In some homes the topic of sex has been taboo and in other homes it’s whatever goes. The parents are doing their thing and the children are learning as they go. They are getting their experience from watching their parents. Furthermore, a lot of them are getting their experience from their friends and acquaintances in the streets.
Despite what is being taught in the church, home, and the community, teens are still having babies at alarming rates. 750,000 children have babies each year. What do you say to your child when they ask the really tough questions? Do we just give them the consequences in hopes that fear alone will keep them from premarital sex? What do we or they really know about the dangers of sex? Women and school aged girls 13 and older account for 21% of the estimated 49,273 new diagnoses of HIV infection in the United States. What about molestation, STD’s treated and untreated, labels, stereotypes, and scars. If you have children or know someone who does, join us tonight at 6:30pm on Real Talk with Devara as we help each other get a solution to this issue.
