Join us for HIV/AIDS discussion bringing awareness to the community. Historically, the HIV/AIDS epidemic has affected more men than women. However, if new HIV infections continue at their current rate worldwide, women with HIV may soon outnumber men with HIV. HIV infection impacts a growing number of women in Illinois each year. Nearly 7,000 women in Illinois are currently known to be living with HIV and/or AIDS. Many hundreds of other women are probably living with HIV even though they are unaware of their own infection. HIV/AIDS disproportionately impacts African-American women in Illinois and the United States. Nationally, HIV infection is the leading cause of death for African-American women between the ages of 25 and 34. In Illinois, the number of HIV cases among African-American women continues to climb. Roughly 68 percent of Illinois women living with HIV are African American, while African Americans only make up 15 percent of the Illinois population. Caucasian women account for 16 percent of Illinois women living with HIV, while the Caucasian population represents more than 73 percent of Illinois residents. Latina women represent roughly 11 percent of the HIV/AIDS cases in women, while 13 percent of the Illinois population is Latino. Roughly 4 percent of women with HIV are from Native American, Asian, Pacific Islander and other communities. Women in their 30s are the most likely to be living with HIV/AIDS, and almost all Illinois women living with HIV are between the ages of 20 and 50.
Tonight on he show we will be discusing the recent events from Baltimore that have been gripping the nation for the last past week. Amilcar Guzman from Casa De Maryland will be joining the discussion.
Also joining us will be filmmaker Ramon Hamilton. He will be discussing his new web series created to shed light on what many call the inhumane and tortuous practice of placing men, women and children in a cell with no human contact for 24 hours a day and, in some well-documented cases, for up to 30 years at a time.

Eric Broyles is an entrepreneur, attorney, and author who recently published “Encounters with Police: A Black Man’s Guide to Survival” with co-author and police officer Adrian Jackson. The book comes at a critical time in our nation, tackling the controversy surrounding the slayings of unarmed African American men by law enforcement officers and providing guidance to African American boys and men on how to survive encounters with police. Specifically, the book offers advice on how to think about interaction with police to lower the chances of escalation, provides information on legal and administrative rights citizens have to redress police misconduct so no hostilities occur at the time of encounter, and includes practical step-by-step guidelines on how to respond to police when pulled over for traffic stops or when stopped for questioning outside of traffic encounters. In a recent interview on Washington DC’s Fox 5 Morning News, Broyles stated that while the book is titled “A Black Man’s Guide to Survival,” the tips are race and gender neutral. He points out that by and large, police officers are not bad actors, but in cases where minorities “face targeting, hostility, and bias,” they should go through the complaint process where “you actually start to build a paper trail which will help the police department ferret out who the bad actors are. Can you imagine if Darren Wilson in Ferguson had five written complaints on him prior to the Michael Brown incident?” he asked. Broyles’ book is available on Amazon,

We come back to our Fourth Sermon with First Lady series, featuring co-pastor and First Lady Darlene Bazemore. In this installment, First Lady helps us with what to do "In the Meantime", while God is working things out in our lives. Sometimes, we just aren't ready to move to the next level. God has to get rid of the rough edges - and in some cases, very rough edges. What do we do while God is dealing with us? What does God want us to do? First Lady provides some of those answers on this early May edition of RCM Live.
To experience real freedom the truth must be present. Living through or with a lie only gives you a perception or illusion of what is real or not real. How would you truly know what is real? Our lives are never discovered because we do not know what is real nor what power we truly have. Do these jeans make me look fat? No they don’t is the answer handed to many people because a lie is easier to tell someone than the truth. Granted we do not want to hurt anyone’s feelings or offend anyone, but when they step out wearing those jeans, they can rip or tear, or have the person humiliated because no one was willing to tell them the truth.
So is the same for God’s word. Many have been handed a watered down version of the truth about God, Jesus, and His kingdom. There are also cases where people do not even know what His will is nor what that means to them. Many want to spend an eternity with the father and have abundant life through Christ but don’t know the truth on how to get there and what it looks like. There has been a doctrine or covetousness passed off as the truth. Now instead of us being created by God and for His purpose, we believe the truth is that God’s will is to support our demands and actions, and give us everything our heart desire, no matter how greedy or selfish that may be.
πλεονεξ?α, pleonexia (ple-o-ne-kse'-ä) translated means covetousness. Covetousness is not only to desire what your neighbor has, it is also a greedy desire to have more above what you need. An insatiable greed for riches; to desire excess, miserly desire to gain and hoard wealth. The application of truth in your life grants you the freedom to minister, love, and live according to God’s way and will. Apply truth to your life and allow the truth to make you free.
