If you have fallen offf track, stop, reflect...and write your new story! We believe in you.

We are joined today by Pete Thomas, Pilot Flying J's Health Champion and the at home winner of the 2nd season of The Biggest Loser, losing 185 lbs in nine months after being eliminated from the show. Now it is 10 years later and counting and Pete has not only kept off the weight he is on a mission to help others do the sdame. Pete is a licensed personal trainer and professional motivational speaker. Pete is Pilot Flyting J's Health Champion working to Coach Professional Drivers in their journey to living a healthier lifestyle.

Our good health is so much more than a number on the scale or your cholesterol or bold pressure numbers. YOU are more than these numbers. Our emotional health is a difficult one to measure but vital to our sense of purpose, our feelings of connections with others near and across the country....and our overall quality and joy in life. I will admit that my comfort food of choice would be a warm loaf of crusty bread (yes the whole loaf) and some cold butter to slather (good word!), watch it melt into all the tiny, delectable holes and enjoy. I did use to do what they say is healthy and use 100% whole grain bread....or swap out my white rice for brown rice....and now what?! We are finding more and more research that the grains - especially what has been done to them through mass-production may be the root of so many of our health issues. Hop on board the No Gran Train and join us as we delve into this issue a little more.
For our NUTRITION episode, I am so grateful to welcome John Reed as our guest. John has been a truck driver for 35 years, an Owner/Operator for 30 years. John's weight problem goes way back to high school and by 2010 he was 240 lbs. (and John is not a tall guy!! ) He was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, as well as having Thyroid problems and Sleep Apnea. As a result, he lost his two year medical card. He decided to make his health a priority and signed up to take a college course on Nutrition. During his studies he found the best way for him was a No Sugar No Grain lifestyle. On November 1, 2014 he went cold turkey and is down 175 lbs. and went from a 44 inch waist to a 34 and is completely off all medication. He has since Graduated and is a Board Certified Nutritionist!!!
Listen as John shares how easy this lifestyle can be a Truck Driver on the road or for anybody wanting to lose weight and be healthy. He will also share tips on shopping at a grocery store or Walmart as well as how he personally stocks up on foods to last him 5 days or more and keep them in a cooler in his truck.
I am so grateful and inspired to welcome Jeff Throssell to the show today. Jeff is a 40-yr old driver who has been driving truck for 20 years, as well as running a business that consists of 10 trucks and some great employees. With inspiration from his father, also a driver, who made time for his health and passed that onto Jeff, as well as in honor of his cousin, Jaime, a natural bodybuilder who lost his life in 1995 in a bicycle accident, Jeff became more determined than ever to prove beyond a doubt there is time to be healthy. Since 2009 he has competed in 7 body building shows, placing 1st place in 3, 2nd in 4 and 1 3rd place finish! Listen and learn from Jeff's story and example of how he balances his healthy lifestyle and body building competitions while on the road and running an extensive truck driving business.
