what's it gonna be?
On today's show we are going to look at what is wrong with Derrick Rose thinking about his health and family after his career in basketball is done?
The Chicago Bulls announced Derrick Rose had an MRI which showed a medial meniscus tear of the right knee that will require surgery. A timetable for Rose’s recovery will be given following his surgery.
That leaves Chicago with Aaron Brooks and Kirk Hinrich as the current options at point guard.
Nate Robinson is an intriguing option for Chicago on the free agent market. Robinson played well for the Bulls during the 2013 playoffs where he averaged 16.3 points per game.
With that in mind, Michael Scotto of SheridanHoops.com joined Yahoo! Sports Radio and host Anthony Pepe to discuss the immediate future for Derrick Rose, whom the Chicago Bulls will target as a potential replacement and the future of coach Tom Thibodeau.
Me and my partner Damian talk about the latest injury to Derrick Rose involving his knee...is he done with being an elite player in the NBA? Talking NCAA Basketball and Vanderbilt Coach Kevin Stallings. Was his asctions over the top? Should he be suspended? Talking NFL and the lastest cuts to some notable players. Michael Sam and participating in the veteran combine and competing in Dancing with the stars...is his focus even on football or staying relevant? Talking Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. Tonight we go over a couple of the more interesting stories in the NBA, starting with Derrick Rose's health and Kobe Bryant's level of play over the first few weeks of the season. In coollege basketball, numerous interesting games took place today, with the Champions Classic featuring Duke-Michigan State and Kentucky-Kansas.
We'll recap those two games, talk a little about each of those four teams and run through some of the other top-25 games in college basketball. Can Wichita State win another 35-plus games this season?
Derrick Rose expects to play Friday night for Team USA against Puerto Rico, which will end a six-day reprieve from actually playing basketball. He has not taken part in scrimmages at practice since playing 24 minutes in a victory over Brazil last Saturday.
Knee soreness and general precautionary reasons are what is keeping Rose sidelined, and should that really be a surprise? He has had surgery on each of his knees over the past two seasons, and it takes players time to get back into game shape when they have basically been sidelined for two straight years.
The question for USA Basketball is this: Will Rose be able to play five games in six nights, which is what their schedule calls for? If not, does it make sense to put him on the final 12-man roster?
Plenty of talk about Rose and Team USA in this interview with the Boers & Bernstein Show in Chicago on 670 The Score.
On this edition of The Versus Podcast, we're honored to have a personal friend and respected personality of Chi-Town on the line as Bryan Crawford, Bulls Insider for NBC Chicago and a contributor for Chicago Tribune's RedEye, chops it up with Bonta and Ed to talk about Derrick Rose's latest injury and how it's sobering to not only Bulls fans but Chicagoans as a whole.
Also, the three of us have a conversations about the current state of advanced analytics in the NBA and what it means for all basketball fans. Oh, and Ed has a terrible story to tell about the time Crawford challenged him to a game of basketball while on a broken leg.
Produced by Bonta. Hosted by Ed. Let's make some fun history.
