INKSTER, MI -- Amid scandal stemming from the violent videotaped arrest of Floyd Dent Jan. 28 and criminal charges against Inkster Police Officer William Melendez, Police Chief Vicki Yost resigned without explanation Wednesday.

"It was a normal resignation," City Manager Richard Marsh Jr. said. "There was no reason listed."

Yost, a full-time, temporary employee, making an annual salary in the high $80,000s or low $90,000s according to Marsh, started in August and will not receive any ongoing pension or benefits. Yost told MLive earlier this month she retired early from the Detroit Police Department, where Melendez also previously worked, before accepting the Inkster job.

Jesus Meets You Where You Are, Where Were You?

    in Christianity

God gave me these words a couple of years ago and I must tell Him sorry for not writing them down when He told me to.  You see, when God tells you to do something, or He gives you something to say, it’s your duty to do it.  So here I go with the strength and grace that He’s given me.

"Jesus met me where I was in my life and talked to me, sang to me and gave me a song to sing and a new way of thinking, and where did He do that?  He did that in the BDF (Baltimore Detention Facility).  He took a man that was broken, and worked a miracle in 86 days and brought me back to Him.  He didn’t look at what I’ve done, because he knew the mistake in life that I made, He didn’t condemn me, even though He could have, He loved me back to Him.  He met me there, and loved me for me.  I didn’t have to jump through hoops or sing a song.  I had to repent from my sin, acknowledge Him in my life, and He did the rest."

The issue now is that when we make mistakes today the world has an issue of holding our past against us, Not Him.  They make us suffer for our past, but not Him.  I found several hero’s in the Bible that have been on my mind for the past couple of years that prove that Jesus Meets You Where You Are.

Join me host Hezekiah L. Montgomery and my Co-Host Nichelle Johnson as we have a Live Discussion about how Jesus Meets You Where You Are, and tell our stories about where we were when Jesus Met us in our life and listen to others as they tell their stories.

DETERMINED TO LIVE FOR JESUS-"Hindrances to Prayer" PART C

    in Religion

Prayer is not given to us as a burden to be borne, nor as an irksome (annoying, irritating, exasperating, tiresome) duty to be fulfilled! I believe that Prayer is our greatest priviledge.  When the new convert embraces this truth he or she will find that everything can be taken to God in prayer. For there is no subject that is too embarrassing, hard, silly, threatning or annoying, nor trivial (unimportant), as suggested by satan, that is off-limits as far as God is concerned.  The Lord has told us to cast our cares upon Him for He cares for us (1Peter 5:7). He further states that we must not cast away our confidence which has "great recompence of reward." This word recompence means that He will give, render or repay whomever comes to Him.  This scripture that is found in Hebrews 10:35 uses another word that should be committed to memory, Confidence. The word confidence (full belief in the trustworthiness and reliability) in God, is the key to a full and productive life in Christ Jesus regardless of the hindrances that arise in the christian-life. Yes, there will be challenges, distractions, assaults, to your mind, inflicted by satan and the demonic world! One must learn how to recognize all hindrances and determine in his or her heart to persevere in Prayer!  I may be reached @  (209) 817-5087Text or telephone or by E-mail jiveysmith@att.net

Never Give Up! A Caregiver's PTSD Success Story. Tonya & Rick Shaw USMC

    in Caregiving

Rick spent 8 ½ years in the Marine Corps, however, he was medically separated in June 2011. During his time on active duty, he completed 2 combat tours to Iraq, was a helicopter mechanic, aerial gunner, and instructor. He suffered silently with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for just over 7 years and was just about as close as one could be to ending their life before his amazing wife was somehow able to pull him out of the darkest of places.

Join Dave, The Caregiver's Caregiver as he interviews Rick & Tonya Shaw, Wednesday, 4/22/15 at noon, PDT). Tonya acted as a caregiver to her PTSD husband for years, trying to save her family, and her marriage that was destined for divorce. However, her goal was not going to be an easy one..

Rick began self-medicating with alcohol mixed with prescribed medication just to get a couple hours of sleep at night. However, the onset of sleepwalking and nightmares became a nightly occurrence. Shortly after, he began to wake up with flashbacks and was convinced that their house was under attack. He then began waking up, pacing in his home with a pistol. His wife would follow him around to make sure he did not hurt anyone. Rick began isolating himself, and his behavior now adversely affected his job.

Eventually, Tonya was able to get Rick to open up publicly about how PTSD had not only affected him, but also his wife and everyone around him. The suicide rate for veterans is staggering and almost impossible to fathom. In fact, veterans make up 20% of the suicides in the United States, but only make up 10% of the population. In whole numbers, last year, just under 40,000 people committed suicide in the U.S. Of that, just over 8,000 were veterans.

Rick and Tonya have now devoted their lives to PTSD awareness of this misunderstood disorder. Please share this link with anyone who is suffering with PTSD. This is a "must see" show!
