Close-Up Talk Radio spotlights Dena Crosby Counseling

    in Psychology

Omaha, NE – We decide things about life and people and relationships based on our early experiences. Eventually, however, these preconceived ideas outlive their usefulness and prevent us from living a full and rich life. To achieve the life we have dreamed of and become the person we were meant to be, the best place to start is our faith.

Dena Crosby is a licensed independent mental health practitioner specializing in faith-based counseling. As the founder of Dena Crosby Counseling, Dena works with individuals struggling with relationships, trauma, anxiety, depression and addiction in the hopes of taking them “from broken to beautiful.”

“People who visit my office are hurt and broken. They often say ‘life is just not going the way I hoped it would.'” says Dena. “I try to ascertain what is holding each of them back from a fulfilling, purposeful and intentional life.”

Though Dena describes herself as an evangelical Christian, as a faith-based counselor Dena says she “meets people where they are” in terms of their own spiritual world.

“I apply my faith to my practice. It is a core part of who I am,” says Dena, “But we are all mind, body and soul; to explore only one aspect of ourselves is not going to help us be the beautiful person we were meant to be."

While faith can play a central role in counseling, Dena draws upon a number of disciplines and modalities including gestalt, cognitive-behavioral therapy and redecision therapy. She says she subscribes to Dr. Carl Rogers’ philosophy of unconditional positive regard: accepting the natural value of a person.

“I’m here unconditionally for you. I am going to respect you and listen,” says Dena. “I am most proud of the courage my clients exhibit when they walk into a counselor’s office willing to bare everything."

"Making A Radical Life Work In A Radical World." (Pt.2) #578

    in Spirituality

Despite the difficulties we experience in our every day lives, there is excellent direction on what to do and how to to it form a variety of sources.  In this message, part 2 of a two part series, we continue to explore the transformation that involves people, culture, economics and most everything else in our world, our "Radical World."  It takes a different  kind of thinking to permeate the challenges we face today, seeking how to turn failure into success or chaos into order.   This is where many individuals find themselves.

My guess is that is has not been easy for people in most any era of world history, so, why should it be different now?  Well, it isn't.  I wonder how many people truly experience a sense of belief in themselves along with the sense of power it takes to find that right path.  I talk a lot about this and believe it takes a different type of life to see it work; a lifetime of "Making A Radical Life Work In A Radical World."  That's where we're  going.

Green Bay Packers report card 2015 - Special Teams

    in Sports

The NFL changed the extra point to be equivelant to a 32 yard field goal. Only five teams went through the season without missing an extra point. Mason Crosby converted all 36 of his extra points, and made 86% of his field goal attempts. He also converted four of five fields goals from beyond 50 yards.

Changing field position is a key component of the punting game. When a drive ends, the punter has the ability to pin the opposing team inside the 20, or flip the field position to help the defense. Tim Matshay struggled with consistency throughout the year. His gross average of 43.9 ranked 24th, but his 40.2 net average ranked 13th. Matshay benefited from good special team tackling which can mask a poor punt. He only placed 18 punts inside the 20 yard line and 14 punts rolled into the end zone for touchbacks.
